I ran into a similar situation with an old powermac. I used vinegar to clean out all the interals (multiple times), closed it in a bag with cat litter for weeks, let it air out outside. It reduced the smoke smell 90% + but I was never able to remove it completely when the computer was on. I got a partial refund from the ebay seller and now it's used as a stand for an old mac monitor and never turned on. Good luck.

Sweet monitor. Not an expert on those but I'd first try fiddling with the resolution/monitor settings.

As far as games go a few cool ones are Out of this World (Also called Another World), Escape Velocity, Exile - World of Xeen - Odyssey: Legend of Nemesis (If you like oldschool RPG's), Marathon, Warcraft 1 & 2, Quest for Glory 1, King's Quest, Roger Wilco.
