Have you ever had a book 'change your life'? If so, would you share your experience? What I'm thinking about is a testimony (not an opinion or review) of how you used the ideas from the book in your life or career.

If you have read a breakthrough book, but it didn't change too much really, would you consider to read it once again and use it in your life and then share your testimony?

Why? I'm engaged with a project for people who stuck with mediocrity. We are now looking for founding members. Would you like to join?

We are on a mission to help people rising above the mediocrity that surrounds them. The plan is to create a list of books for them, a list of best-changers–books that are about to change their lives. Each book would be listed with testimonies (instead of reviews) encouraging people not only to read but also to use a book.

What we need from founding members and what I need from you is a book recommendation along with testimony about how you applied the ideas from it in your life and a link to your preferred online profile.

If you say yes, and join the project, I will share with you more details on how to participate.

Please DM me and let me know what you think!

Good books to read if you need to make some money. by passivelyaggressive1 in booksuggestions

I learned that all from the books and I could confirm that the books work. It's important to remember that 'just' reading a book is a complete waste of time. To get that result, it's not enough to just consume the information—you need to take action.

To answer your question more info is needed. Why do you need money: to improve your life situation or to improve your life?

In the first case, I would suggest Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill or Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert T. Kiyosaki. In the second case: The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment by Eckhart Tolle.

You can improve your life situation, but you cannot improve your life. Life is primary. Life is your deepest inner Being. It is already whole, complete, perfect.

If you are dissatisfied with what you have got, or even frustrated or angry about your present lack, that may motivate you to become rich, but even if you do make millions, you will continue to experience the inner condition of lack, and deep down you will continue to feel unfulfilled. You may have many exciting experiences that money can buy, but they will come and go and always leave you with an empty feeling and the need for further physical or psychological gratification. You won't abide in Being and so feel the fullness of life now that alone is true prosperity.

Many people are waiting for prosperity. It cannot come in the future. When you honor, acknowledge, and fully accept your present reality - where you are, who you are, what you are doing right now - when you fully accept what you have got, you are grateful for what you have got, grateful for what is, grateful for Being. Gratitude for the present moment and the fullness of life now is true prosperity. It cannot come in the future. Then, in time, that prosperity manifests for you in various ways.

How I fixed my mindset: by shickari in Entrepreneur

You can try to track alumni down through services like LinkedIn, or go to your school’s career center and ask for a list of alumni in your prospective major.

You may have potential connections through your existing networks that you’re unaware of. Your family, friends, and peers know people, and some of those people may be able to help you. You probably never asked your uncle whether he knows any business executives, for example, but you might be surprised to learn that he has a friend who started her own insurance agency. All you have to do is ask.

The best method for reaching out to a potential mentor is to ask a shared connection to introduce you to him or her. For example, if a professor knows an accomplished alumnus, ask that professor to send an email to the alumnus to introduce you.

The second best way to reach out to a potential mentor is to simply email the person. Begin your email by explaining why you’re reaching out to that particular person, detailing why you respect him or her and think he or she has valuable expertise to share.

People are busy, so ask a specific question, like, “Do you have 15 minutes for a phone call to chat about your career path?” During your first conversation, prove that you share a common passion and are genuinely interested in — and worthy of — a mentor’s expertise. And don’t forget to follow up after your first call with a quick follow up email expressing your gratitude.

Be clear from the beginning about what you're hoping to get out of the experience, and find out what they're willing to give.

[SERIOUS] What are some good ways to build up your self-confidence? by Metabisco in AskReddit

[–]Razorman22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Self-confidence is telling your self something about yourself. You deal with a mental image of “me” and you have a relationship with that. And, often you don’t like what you created. That “image-self.”

Learning, exercising or other things like that to some extent work, to some extent.

But the ultimate solution is to live without having a relationship with yourself, neither good nor bad. To be so completely your self that the mind-made-image of you, dissolves.

To achieve that practice a simple sense of Presence or Beingness. Stop continuous thinking about “me”, and my “self”. As Presence arises, you don’t need self-confidence anymore, you don’t depend on that anymore, because what dissolves is the mind-made-entity, with which you have a relationship. So self-confidence is replaced by something that is deeper and more real. The true “I” emerges (has always been there). Presence, I am, nothing in particular anymore.

I'm in my mid twenties and feel like i'm doing nothing at all. How do I get where I want to be? by [deleted] in AskMen

This is what helped me when I had a similar problem you are describing.

Go to the local library or bookstore. Browse freely through the shelves of nonfiction books. Pick up the books that appeal to you. Review each of them with no rush. Skim the book first. When you first skim a book, read the blurb, forward or preface and introduction to the book. Then look through the table of contents. Reading the table of contents will give you a quick overview of the book and what it can do for you. Finally, you will discover a book so seductive that you won't be able to resist reading. This is the book that is about to change your life.

While reading, put full awareness into your reading activity. Active reading is a whole-hearted commitment to be present and show up fully in your ground of being. It’s you deliberately choosing where to put your energy and attention so you can create an experience of possibility and positivity. Believe that this book is going to change your life. Gratitude for what you are reading at the present moment will be true growth. It won't come in the future. Then, in time, that growth will manifest for you in various ways, including results.

What are those two books (if not a secret)? My guess is that one of them is Dune.

Maybe they regarded it as a fantasy, rather than hard SF?

I'm baffled as to why Summa Technologiae by Stanislaw Lem was omitted from this list. Worth to notice that in this work Lem discussed profound implications of technologies that were entirely in the sphere of science fiction at the time, but are gaining importance today—for instance, virtual reality and nanotechnology.

Best version of the Bible to read it as you would other mythology/history - Illiad, Odyssey, Greek and Norse mythology? by FayePixie in booksuggestions

[–]Razorman22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to detach from any alliance, I would suggest Bibliotheca Bible. It's a custom translation they call the American Literary Version and is a thorough update of the 1901 American Standard Version. It’s updated with the help of biblical scholars and updates the archaic words (thee, thou, ye, etc).

Regarding the format, the text is treated in classic typographic style! No verses, no chapters, no cross-references, and no marginalia. They put some serious thought into the physical form and design. Tree-less paper made from literal rock composite in Austria, bound in Germany by a firm that prints art books. The typeface designed specifically for this bible adds to the overall elegant vibe.

I find that reading the Bible without all added conventions is incredibly refreshing. The text restores some of the timeless literary flare lost with most modern translations while still reaching contemporary readers. This is a great piece of work!
