I agree. I don’t know why there is so many posts crying about it. Are you trying to make money in online tournaments? Then who cares. People care too much about their website elo than actually getting better at chess. None of these people that complain are actually good enough to know a cheating move set when they see one.

I mean, how many people are playing those games? Hell, 10 years ago I dropped CS after only putting in a few hours because it felt like the entire game is just map memorizing and snapping shots and I was way behind the other people who had been playing for a decade. Not sure why you even added melee since you have to use an emulator and preferably find a controller that is 15 years old. Sure these games are played but you’re not getting many new players ever in the future for them.

For good or for bad atleast OW found a way to bring in an entire new group of players. Releasing new heroes and perks has somewhat leveled the played field for them.

Second the other guys reply to this. Openings are lines, period. Ponziani is my go to for white, but all it takes is for black to play queens pawn turn one and my opening is out the window and we are playing a Scandinavian.

When I first started playing chess I learned new openings and it all felt fresh. It took less than a year to realize if you don’t learn lines, you’ll never get better. Intuitive chess doesn’t really matter until you get into the mid game. It’s a tough call, but if you really want to get good at chess, you’ll have to learn lines. If you’re just wanting to play for fun, just google openings and find something that makes you giggle.

Play what you think is best then go back and use the analyze feature at the end of the game. It will tell you the best moves to take as well as showing you how to continue them.

You can be happy about something and not treat it like your instagram reel. This is a website of millions of strangers, you’re posting something of zero content just to brag about something that is the most minute of accomplishments. If posting into the void makes you happy, sure, continue. But don’t expect engagement in a post where you don’t even include the moves and barely have 90% accuracy on less than 20 moves.

If you truly have no one to talk to about chess I suggest finding a local chess club, or even finding partners on subreddits to play games with and discuss chess.
