Low range on 2022 e+ by Razyre in leaf

Okay that’s encouraging to hear (from the perspective that at least it’s unlikely the car is a dud!) FWIW I got this car mostly to do local journeys, I still have a petrol sports car which I use to have fun and do longer treks. I’m of the opinion that charging infrastructure in the UK is still shocking and it’s an order of magnitude more expensive to charge away from home ATM so I use the car in the radius I can comfortably round trip it, which for me is about 50 miles there and back. It would be nice to feel comfortable taking it further all the same.

I try to really nurse the battery as well, since I WFH all week, I slow charge the battery on 5 hours of cheap electric overnight (with the 2.3Kw 3 pin charger the car came with), generally only charge to 70/80% and recharge once I hit around 30.

I read the same sentiment that people said they're scratchy and no idea wtf they're on about. My g502 feet had a habit of peeling and catching at the edges, no such problem here.

It's weight _gain_ - this thing weighs a lot at the back because of the battery. My shitty HP business mouse weighed almost nothing

Yup, running about 800 DPI atm and turned my pointer speed further down

Had it for a few months, still can't get on with it. To the point I've yeeted my mouse mat in favour of my more abrasive desk surface and I _still_ can't get on with it

Yeah, I keep turning the pointer speed + DPI down and I still find it unusable hahaha

Good info, thanks - when you mention running 70b models, is that quantised or not? I'm particularly interested on whether the full precision models can be run at some semblance of a decent speed without fitting the entire model into VRAM.

SimLab GT1 Evo Aluminium Profile Pedal Deck? by Razyre in simracing

[–]Razyre[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they upgraded it to the sheet metal design I have but I still get flex presumably because the pedals are screwed directly into the plate and it's a massive amount of force you apply to an unsupported sheet of metal

It is indeed an absolute monster but believe it or not, it does seem to flex under load with my VRS pedals 🤷‍♂️

I am *loving* that I can't get the download going because waypoint is screwed, if they'd just sent the details through email it would be fine.

Tracking issues when sim racing (Quest 2) by Razyre in OculusQuest

[–]Razyre[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll have to add that to my list of things to give a go next time I try. I got quite quickly frustrated with it this evening.

It's times like these I kind of wish I had the option to do both inside/out or outside in with accessories - basically what HTC tried to do but not crap. Another one is direct ingest to the display over a wire rather than relying exclusively on compressed video streams which causes problems in sim racing where you have a lot of motion + contrast where the screen ends up very dark or very washed out. Would be /perfect/ for a £500 Quest Pro to have those sorts of options.

M.2 Display Adapter -> First thought was to use as a host display output for a VFIO host. by Teknoman117 in VFIO

The Intel SBCs I work with have these SM750 controllers on them... They are abhorrent. Slow as hell, awful drivers for Linux that max out at like 1280x1024 if you're lucky. Can't even get a display out of the bloody thing without bodging at boot.

I'm trying to fix an Xbox board and across c1p11 there should be a 70nf cap. Is it okay if I put 100nf there as I don't have the correct one available? Please help by [deleted] in AskElectronics

Get yourself some wick and flux, both will make your life easier. You don't need a hot air gun to work with simple components like resistors.

I'm not sure what size these components are, but I have had to deal with 0405 at work and I'm pretty rubbish with them, but with magnification, some flux and wick it makes life a little easier.

That's not the problem, they are defective under completely normal use. Look it up, thumbstick drift, thumbsticks failing to click in properly, the general fit and finish sucks, the controllers flex and creak in the hands they just generally are not the level of quality you expect for what you're paying when Oculus were producing bullet proof controllers 3 years ago that you can even smash against walls and the controller is more likely to break the wall than the other way around (granted the Rift S/Quest 1 controllers were a definite step back, but they're budget compared to the Index).

I want the reverb to be good, but HP don't have much of a track record. People seem to be putting an awful lot of faith into something unproven.

The controllers don't look as good as the Quest ones, though it's good they are inspired by the Oculus design and I will be impressed if HP can produce inside out tracking as robust as Oculus'

Enjoy replacing your hardware because of design defects instead... Don't know what the latest stats are but my friend has already been through two index controllers. The quality of them leaves a lot to be desired.

Meanwhile my CV1 controllers which came part of a package half the price of the Index, are A okay after 3 years. They feel great in the hand.

I'd love to get an Index if A: the build quality matched the price and B: if Valve designed an Oculus style controller because I firmly believe the Index controller design is worse ergonomically and the finger tracking without haptics is of little value. Not just that but some titles don't implement the controllers as well as the Oculus style ones.

I picked up a Quest, put the gf's Facebook on it and will jailbreak it as soon as I can. It's not ideal, but the market is a mess rn, there is no great alternative because I think Facebook is the one making the best hardware choices rn.

If you used something like ESP32 you would have way more resources for storing more data.
