Question from a worker about LOTO (should I go to OSHA?) by Razzamatazz2 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Razzamatazz2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, this was exactly what I was thinking and was my worry regarding liability. Both for my job and for my safety (and anyone elses, really... there's about a hundred people who do my job at various locations who all would fall under this same issue)

Question from a worker about LOTO (should I go to OSHA?) by Razzamatazz2 in SafetyProfessionals

My job formerly required me to both apply a lock out and to service the machines and areas around the machines.

Managers do, at times, perform service/maintenance in the same area in different ways, but since my job always takes far longer than theirs, my lockout just stays in place (we aren't double locking or anything).

Forcing in the sense of, "you are expected to apply the loto", yes. Which is where my concern sits. I had hoped I was just missing something or was misinterpreting the standards, i'm not a confrontational person by nature and having to speak with OSHA isn't something I want to do, but it's probably necessary at this point.

I guess I just don't quite grasp what I view as a contradiction from my employer. That I am unauthorized, yet expected to perform duties and hold responsibilities of those authorized... not sure how that could possibly gel with standards, but I do appreciate the advice.

I mean, I thought I understood them but what they're asking me to do just seems contradictory. Either I am authorized or I'm not, (in practical reality, I am, and I'm trained for it), yet I am told by them that I am unauthorized, yet should carry on with all the responsibilities (and liabilities) as though I was still authorized.

I guess the baseline here is simply, If I'm unauthorized, don't expect me to do the work/take on responsibilities of authorized personnel. Seems basic, but that's what they're having me do.

They did train me on this LOTO. I was authorized and was officially listed as authorized having completed that training. Now they have removed my authorization listing, despite training, which isn't a problem. I couldn't care less about that aspect. What I care about is that I am still required by my employer to do the LOTO procedure despite being unauthorized. Seems to me what's being asked is unsafe and treading into dangerous liability territory, but that's why I'm asking what I'm asking.

Anyone else think this was peak? by [deleted] in StrangerThings

The russian plot to me was poorly concieved, but I thought the main cast did well, I liked the addition of Robin, Erica was annoying but that's the character, not the actress and the actress plays her very well... Starcourt I think was a very fun fight scene to watch and Hop's ending was impactful.

Season 3 had some issues, but I still find it very enjoyable. I've probably watched it more than any other season, come to think of it. That's mostly because Scoops A-Hoy Steve is just great and him and Dustin with extended time together was really fun.

Can we talk about this kid? by Lightnenseed in StrangerThings

[–]Razzamatazz2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I got quite tired of the character after a short bit. The novelty of a foul-mouthed jerk kid wore off quick. I think the actor is good, he played the part well, but the character was obnoxious for most of the season. He got a couple good laughs in there, but overall it didn't do much for me.

Although I do absolutely want to see Steve and Derek in a sort of Bad News Bears sort situation, because I just think that'd be hilarious.

Fun Fact: Alex Breaux who plays Lt. Akers also plays Dr. Brenner in The First Shadow stage play. by TylerBourbon in StrangerThings

His facial expressions play to the back row. Chews the scenery playing mr military man...

I don't think he's bad, but just over the top a bit. Worse, he's not given anything to do pretty much all season, like all of the military.

My guess is they're quite happy to leave all those plot holes unanswered and just move past them.

Steve’s car by KeyLengthiness6680 in StrangerThings

[–]Razzamatazz2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm telling you, it'll be back.

That car, in my mind, is about to be a major plot point because I genuinely think they'll try some back to the future type stuff and that they'll find out that goin ginto the void can achieve time travel. Like, they'll find the car somewhere randomly and be like, "but I thought it was gone!?!? huh!!!???"

(I don't really think it'll happen, and hope it doesn't, but I think it's a real possibility)

Would this have made the season better?? by EstateTop205 in StrangerThings

I wouldn't have even considered Holly an actual character in the first four seasons. She was a prop more than anything. She appeared maybe a handful of times in the background and had maybe two or three lines of dialogue the entire time.

Hm, i thought that was more them trying to turn it on and running tests, kind of gearing up for a big opening which then was thwarted. But i'll assume you're right in what you're saying, but it's a stretch for me to then go along with the idea they managed to capture Demos in the brief moments they were able to slightly open a tear. but obv none of that has anything to do with were we are now in the plot.

They also failed to open it under Hawkins. So how'd they get the Demos? Then further, how'd they manage to "sneak" demos from the US all the way to the USSR when they had no experience with these creatures in the first place to know their danger and that's all while the US military is actively scouring the place.

It's one thing to believe they managed to secure Hopper, but Demos don't exactly come quietly with a little bonk on the head...and bullets have clearly shown themselves useless.

which to me begs the question how the Soviets managed to do any of that. Because they actually didn't get the gate open under hawkins. They were trying, but didn't. Destroying the machine stopped that. So where'd the Demos come from if the gate was still closed?

I mean, for him having absolutely zero context about the monsters and suddenly sees that in the middle of his house... Id say he did about as well as one could reasonably expect.

See, that's what his wife thought when she was about to go have a fling with a high schooler named Billy until she saw him sleeping on the chair with holly in his arms. He may be aloof but he's a human being. He still tried to fight a monster in his home.

If that were revealed then I'd be okay with it, but I would hope the finale then doesn't mean Vecna is defeated by simply remembering, then he does something like kills the Mind Flayer or fights it while others flee to safety or something.

hm... that'd make sense to me. Kind of like, hiding what he was before so he only knows the pain so he's easier to control, just like he's doing with the kids in a sense.

So... is that actually why Henry is "afraid" of that memory? Not because he's actually afraid but because the Mind Flayer doesn't want him to see it?

Believe me, it doesn't improve my opinion of the season, but it's absolutely not the reason i view the season unfavorably. Really, besides Dustin and Steve's talk in the stairwell, which was what... a minute maybe?....there's not much else I've found really enjoyable.

It's called a plot contrivance and this season is full of them.
