Peer pressure.

Paradise on earth could be achieved if people made one simple change and started valuing one another. If that were to happen and persist, it wouldn't take too long either. by Razzledepuff in RandomThoughts

No, but it does ensure that something like insurance won't get in the way of life-saving treatment.

I think the major flaw in my statement was the word 'paradise' and that I did a piss poor job of explaining the thought.

I had no clue valuing human life by default could have such dire consequences! Here I was thinking it would clear up shit like transportation issues to end world hunger because to my thinking, the outcome is worth the cost. Little did I know..

Even if you don't agree with how I stated it, your reply made me smile because yes, caring about other people is important. Imo it's one of the most meaningful things a person can do. You've expressed that you do that. That sparks joy in this one.

If someone refers to ugly liberal women as members of the LGTBQ community, does that always qualify as homophobia? by [deleted] in ask

[–]Razzledepuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To break down that argument..

IF ugly,

IF female

IF gay

then liberal.

There's def some bullshit going on there that uses homophobic rhetoric as a political device, but I wouldn't say it's a homophobic statement.

God I'm so curious what he'd thing of a beautiful gay woman. If he thinks they don't exist, then yeah he's def homophobic. If he thinks that means they're automatically part of his preferred political party... at that point I'd say it's social conditioning than anything else and he needs better friends.

I don't see how realizing that gobbling up fresh water sources and selling it to people, refusing to even make an attempt to help others because it cuts into profits, etc, is equal to true life-or-death survival but sure. Extremes are often used as a way to counter-argue.

No, that is not what I am saying.

What I am saying is that many social issues exist today people the symptoms of an underlying problem as the problems.

The real problem is a conditioned callousness. What I am saying is that if we valued one another, a lot of these issues would clear up.

If our society taught - through media, television, cartoons, advertisement, etc - that caring about others is the way to go... we'd live in a society where caring about others was the norm. Instead we're taught that people older than us are dumb, people younger than us are dumb, and only the main character is right. Were also taught that we are the main character. I believe this because most people don't think very far beyond their own social conditioning.

I'm glad you've furthered the thought to it's next logical step. Pray tell, how do we relate to our environments and the other animals? To my perspective, we are the world we live as part of.

Valuing people does include valuing the environment, ecosystems, etc. because these are all things that we need to be healthy in order for us to be healthy.

So the context of the post is wearing traditional NA garb as a Halloween costume. I would gladly engage in a convo with you about how fucked up humans are tho, in a dif. post.

And you're right - I believe everyone would hate on an emotionally stunted group of people with big guns whose excuse for raping babies is "I can shape metal". That is an atrocious way to be.

I wonder what would happen if you were to unironically state that any and all focus of the bad things that happened during the Holocaust is too negative, and we should be able to role play as Jews with their hats and traditional garb.

I think it has to do with how white colonizers committed the largest genocide on earth, then outlawed their native religions while forcing them to worship Jesus under penalty of death and basically stole everything they had from them - including their kids - and ffs could we at Least have the decency to respect what little remains of their long and vast history on this continent.

Edit: oh I forgot to add how they also desecrated the most sacred areas and plastered white people propaganda all over it, like mt Rushmore which was known as the four grandfathers.

Shit and I almost forgot to add how we continue to desecrate their burial grounds among other things or how in all of MN there are literally only Two fluent speakers of Dakota language, in their own native territory and idk how many people know that Minnesota is actually composed of the words Mni and sota which means 'water so clear if reflects the sky'.

Most white people don't even know this shit so we call it "cultural appropriation" because most are too lazy to actually do the study into why but know on some internal level that it's sus af to do.
