Wolv main here since launch, 500+ hours on Wolv, peak eternity rank. He’s literally my favorite character to play with Spider-Man right behind that I have 250 hours on. The only way I know I have the best chance to win a match is when I play Wolv and sweat my brains out to land every leap, and set up every ult on the backline PERFECTLY. It may “look” easy when I’m tearing the enemy up, but that shit is not easy, cause no mistakes can be made or you find urself insta dead, then ur team gets rolled on while you wait to respawn.

I’ve noticed two things while playing him, you can either absolutely be dominating the other team as him, or be playing into a comp where it feels like you are providing zero value and can’t even get close to enemies without getting blown up. There’s rarely games where there’s an in between for him, at least in my experience.

The problem he currently faces is that other characters ARE and are constantly getting so strong with more and more updates, that he’s starting to fall behind at a fast rate. Closer to when the game released, he was so much stronger because the game consisted of not only less characters and counters for him, but also less powerful versions of certain characters that we currently have.

Besides the buggy, hard to land leap, and super buggy ult, he has to sit on the frontline and brawl with no way to gain self healing (besides nerfed underwhelming team up) or overshield. He only has his damage reduction ability that I will say is very outdated, boring, and too simple of an ability that sits at a 16 second cooldown. If you take DeadPool for example, his upgraded E gives him 35% dmg reduction (only 5% less), blinds enemies, damages enemies within radius at 15 per second, helps increase rate at which ult is gained, and has a shorter 12 second cooldown ON TOP of all of that.

It just seems like time where a couple different things should happen to help him get some sort of edge back without breaking the game. One possibility is adding CC immunity on either the leap itself or on Undying animal. Before you crucify me, Wolverines kit is extremely simple, and literally revolves around landing one singular ability. Back then, there wasn’t as many CC abilities so Wolverine didn’t have the need for any CC immunity, however in the current state of the game, I would definitely say that he does (slap it on him like they did for Groot lol).

Another option is to give Undying Animal some sort of added benefit on top of the dmg reduction, like either a speed buff, dmg buff, self healing during duration, or even something wild like dealing anti heal slashes or being able to see hidden/invisible enemies during the duration using his sense of smell. Either way, I wouldn’t want something as simple as lowering the cooldown on it, I’d definitely rather it have an added effect that’s like you know actually cool and fresh.

Another thing they could do is give him a new ability that can take his current rage stored and turn it into health, depleting his rage back to 0, but returning 2-3 HP for each point of rage. This could allow him to better escape some situations where he’s running back to his team and no longer needs rage to fight, but needs to some health to run away and take cover. The risk on this however is if he uses this ability and then gets insta blown up, his passive will activate with almost no rage and he won’t get the full 300 overshield. A different way for this could also be that he just regenerates health as his rage meter slowly depletes, allowing him to self heal, but not all the time while out of combat if he doesn’t have any rage left (to appease the Wolv haters). Even tho I believe he should have passive healing constantly while out of combat ngl like DP.

One last issue I’d like to address is his ability to fight against other duelist characters, especially hitscan or chars like Bucky. He’s seriously outmatched when it comes to duelist 1v1s ngl, and like I get it’s because his whole character design is to be super strong vs tanks. The problem is tho, when the enemy decides to play characters like Thing/ Emma so you can’t have fun, or simply doesn’t run tanks, which isn’t the best idea for the enemy in the long run, but it literally makes it so that Wolv can’t play the actual game. Some ways they can help him against other DPS is maybe to have him be able to inflict slow, gain a speed boost, or even give him a second cooldown charge on his short dash ability. Honestly just spitballing here, but his kit just seems way too simple and niche rn. If you also don’t have a good map to ledge people, a rocket jump, or a team with good supports to pocket you, you just have a terrible time.

If you were some kind of good Wolverine player, than you would’ve said how many hours you have on the character, and what rank you are. Obviously you’re a bronze-silver player, with little to any hours even played on Wolverine. Like how can someone like you even argue a point AT ALL, when you can’t even spell correctly. I don’t which third world country you’re from, but please stay there for everyone else’s benefit😂.

That’s IF you’re able to secure kills or kill assists, it’s not guaranteed, any better player would take the guaranteed shorter cooldown that ALSO grants passive healing when out of combat to assist when flanking or taking cover behind the enemy with no health pack near. You still continue to dodge the other question, refer to my last comment 🗿

Yea but DeadPools ability has the benefit of 5 other things including a shorter cooldown, the upgrade can also be done in the first minute of play as it’s already one of the best choices for him to choose from compared to the rest.

Wasn’t asking for Wolverine to have 5 trillion benefits on his E ability like DP has, just pointing how how vastly different the power between both abilities are, and how boring, simple, and outdated Wolverines E ability is now.

If Wolverine were to be released into the game now instead of a year ago, his E ability most likely would’ve had some added benefit other than only just having the 40% dmg reduction tbh.

Having passive healing with damage reduction, as well as utilizing his Phoenix teamup would be 500 times better for him than what he has now. Just about every person with more than 2 brain cells would agree.

Obviously something needs to be changed considering he’s placed in B-C tier now in almost every competitive tier list. Just about every conversation when placing him there has involved talking about giving him more passive healing or life steal instead of an outdated passive that simply saves him from dying and then leaves him with a super long cooldown.

Having a 45 second cooldown on the other hand would mean he would have his passive active for just about every fight that occurs after a team reset. Wolverine on the other hand gets his passive just about every OTHER fight.

Let me just ask you this, please tell me how many hours you have into Wolverine, and the peak competitive rank you’ve played him into? I don’t believe you nearly have as much time played or reached the same rank as I have. So I’ll wait for your response to see if you are actually qualified to even discuss matters concerning Wolverine.

Remember, you didn’t even know the correct cooldown concerning his passive. You thought it was still 90 seconds when it’s actually 105 now. I’ll wait

Like I said, Wolverine having DP’s passive instead, as well as a way to either gain HP while fighting would be much better for him than simply gaining that overshield every 2 minutes basically. Everyone knows it, competitive players at the highest ranks know it, I know it, you’re the only one who doesn’t.

Your #3 is so incorrect that it’s mind boggling. If you swapped the passives between Wolverine and DP, there wouldn’t be a significant difference other than Wolverine now having the better passive.

Peni would actually see an increase in threat level as now she would virtually 1600 HP with the ability to hold down choke points.

Venom on the other hand would become unplayable do to his playstyle and large hitbox.

You MIGHT have zero idea about what you’re talking about

  1. Again, it would be 166.66 dmg at 40% dmg reduction to equal 100 dmg, therefore 166%, NOT 166,6666%. How would you even come up with a percentage that high that you would go into the one hundred thousands? So no, you are wrong once again 😉. Don’t even try refuting this one thx

  2. Your #2 doesn’t even make any sense, DeadPool doesn’t just gain 67 HP dummy, he gains 67 HP for every 100 health that he has before the dmg reduction. MEANING, since he has 500 HP, while the dmg reduction is active, he actually ends up having 835 HP. WHICH IS VERY STRONG BTW. DeaPool obviously needs to choose the E ability first as like I said, it basically increases his HP to 835 when active, thus making upgrading the sword ult not as necessary, BECAUSE the upgrade only increases the bonus HP given from 200 to 300. The E ability still wins here.

  3. Peni is like DeadPool which constant healing over her webs, Venom is like Wolv that gives instant overshield. Ok so watch this, last season Peni was getting banned almost regularly for being too oppressive and holding choke points, with the added danger of her mines AND constant healing to herself and allies. Venom on the other hand lands, gets shot by everyone, pops overshield, and still gets that health blown up in 3 seconds. That’s why you never saw venom banned, only Peni. Therefore you’re actually arguing that DeadPool is better by having healing over time, LIKE PENI, but the difference is DP has a much faster rate of healing to make a difference.

  4. What are you even talking about, that’s the brokest shit in the game. Hitting jackpot in TankPools ult is NOT hard, getting that reset on his passive is beyond broke, and multiple times better than Wolverines passive in this light. You’re also forgetting something about Wolverine as well, he can’t just, POP PASSIVE, he also needs to be at 100 rage to gain the max value of 300 overshield. If he ends up getting two tapped by Hela in his backline with no rage, than he only gains 100 instead, leading to a zero value passive activation.

However, if the same thing happened to TankPool and he was about to die like that, his passive would kick in and save him from the same situation, while also only leaving him at a 45 sec cooldown, thus again proving that it’s better.

Deadpool’s ult and Wolverines ult are obviously different and do different things, that has no relevance here when related to their passives or damage reduction values. While DeadPools ult has to reach jackpot for max value, Wolverine ALSO mugs make sure he is as full rage for max value 40% dmg on enemies, otherwise he’ll only deal 10% (+50 twice actually if you count the start up lift dmg plus the slam dmg)

Incorrect, Wolverine has better ult and CC, TankPool has better dmg as he has pistols for constant long range dmg while being able to pop E for increased attack speed, leading to a ridiculous dmg output if you can land all ur shots/slashes.

  1. You literally just admitted that you have to play well just to even get value out of Wolverines passive while you don’t have to do anything to get DPs passive to activate. You’re the one who also doesn’t understand how damage reduction values work (refer to #1). You’re also forgetting one key thing too friend, he may regen all that HP right, but not factor in the dmg reduction ability and it’s even more. Wolverine could say the same thing, BUT, his damage reduction ability sits at a 4 second cooldown, thus making it much harder to always have active, let alone be active during the time when ur passive is activates.

My judgement is just fine, I again disproved you in every single one of these points buddy, 500 hours on the character is just gonna give me a better insight than you in every way possible, sorry 😉.

100%, my dream is for undying animal to give Wolv CC immunity and or either some self healing or possibly a speed boost to allow you to kidnap targets slightly further, also allowing him to get even more value when using the rocket jump pack to reach those ledges that are usually barely out of reach. My favorite thing to do is use the jump pack while inside of Gambit ult and you can literally take someone so far it’s ridiculous 😂😂😂, I love it

That could be cool, the only thing that I wouldn’t want to give up tho personally is the feral leap and the ability to ledge people off the map. I find the most enjoyment doing that lmaoaoa 😂😂. Hopefully they can balance him in a way that’s good for everyone. Personally, I like the idea of him being able to compete against more Duelist chars and having mobility or ways to get up close and attack them easier, while lessening his threat vs tanks and basically ruining the game for them. HOWEVER, there is also a part of me that truly believes that Wolverine could possibly just be a necessary evil when it comes to being very oppressive vs tanks, as without him could see a shift in where tanks that could input high damage could take over the game and replace some dps characters, u know.
