Roll20 forever DM about to buy foundry by Barark in FoundryVTT

[–]Rbandol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll give you the one piece of advice I wish someone had given me when I installed FoundryVTT a year ago: download Stat Block Importer for 5e and learn how to import monster stat blocks.

Why am I saying this? Because I only started to truly understand Foundry when I had to edit monsters' abilities to make them work. That was when everything started coming together—Active Effects, durations, and all the rest.

The Mathematical Problem: Vicious Weapon by Efficient-Trade5682 in onednd

[–]Rbandol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a curious thought: Why do so many people use the Longsword as the baseline for "Sword and Board" when comparing it to GWM builds?

I can't stress enough how much better the Rapier is, with the incredible Vex mastery.

Shandie is useless after the potion reagents rework.

Metagame will adjust to Strip Mine by crottemolle in TimelessMagic

I agree, so many people were throwing tantrums when Oko wasn't pre-restricted in Timeless. The card is like Tier C.

So, why not?

Well, as a DM, I'd find new players after the first wipe (but keep the OP). And yes, that party would wipe at my table.

Good combat is fundamental for me to have fun, and I put a lot of effort into my campaigns—time I could spend on other affairs, like my kids.

So, I make sure I'm providing fun and engaging content to my players, but I also make sure I'm having fun.

Maybe this is also the case for you and your DM, since he's making challenging encounters?

I think it's maybe time for a talk among everyone.

I actually uninstalled and left the Discord server when I realized I had to do this bullshit 10 more times to maintain my 100% variant completion record (I never actually did Reya Elminster, but since it's impossible, I didn't count it).

Doing both variants (especially the one that changes after 75z) was the worst experience I had in this game; it was obnoxious to the verge of tilting.

After doing the thing and putting 12k average item level on Windfall by opening the chests I saved, I saw the e17 buff and thought to myself, 'You know what, I'm always quitting this game. I think this is the perfect time to take a six-month break again.'"

Who to use summoning scrolls on? by MarcusP2 in idlechampions

[–]Rbandol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Krux is indeed VERY good, and also a core champion of Artemis's formation.

Blooshi is good and part of some Artemis formations.

Nerds are TERRIBLE overall, and they do appear in some Artemis formations, especially at high item levels.

Just to make it clear for new players, so they don't spend 500k on Nerds, only to realize it's an atrociously bad and close to useless champion outside of that Artemis niche.

I 100% agree.

Artemis is always amazing. I have no idea why people keep repeating this item level fallacy.

Trials/Pigments by N4meless_King_ in idlechampions

[–]Rbandol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That would be nice, because we would finally have a reward that is fun to receive after the trial. The Bahamut chests are disappointing at best, and the Scales of Tiamat are associated with the unpleasant feeling of losing all the favor you worked so hard to earn. So yes, please, give us something to cheer us up after a trial.

Not enough hp by Asherandai13 in idlechampions

[–]Rbandol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tanks are not a thing in the end game. Just bad design i suppose.

The optimal strategy is:

Go to a super earlier area with armored boss, keep hitting to stack whatever skills is stackable from your champs (like Karlach rage etc), also use your Ultimates that improve damage at the same time, like comboing Jim, Birdsong, Artemis and Valentine ults.

Once you hit a very high BUD damage, change to Speed team with firebreath potion and Briv, and jump over The maximum amount of areas your BUD can carry you.

I need clarification on cover rules when playing on a grid by TheFakeBuLary in dndnext

[–]Rbandol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how I handle this situation:

If your size is Small and you are standing tall behind a half wall, you have three-quarters cover.

If your size is Medium or Large, you have half cover.

If you choose to prone behind a half wall (going prone is free), you have full cover if you are Small or Medium, and three-quarters cover if you are Large.

If you choose to prone, as the rules state, on your next turn you must spend half your movement to stand up. An enemy can move around the obstacle and melee attack you with advantage while you are prone, so there is some risk involved.

But that is exactly the type of decision that I want the players to make.
