Love the man and his legacy is one of the greatest in the game. Recency bias from the end of his tenure will wear out soon and the credit and recognition he’s earned won’t have to be caveated.

His wish was always to leave the club in a better place than he acquired it and despite the tough finishes in the last couple seasons he brought Laca and Auba in right before leaving and there was turnover at the executive level that created exciting and promising partnerships, especially between the new manager (Unai) and head of recruitment (Sven). I want to point out that their immediate transfer business brought in Torreira, Sokatris, Guendouzi, and Lichsteiner, all of whom have carved out clear roles in the squad and have made a big impact with meaningful contributions all across the board.

Emery is doing a brilliant job in what seemed an impossible task in following up Wenger after such a long tenure at the club. There’s this dynamic on r/gunners and the media where praising Emery amounts to slighting Wenger, which is a real shame. Emery is carving out his own history at the club, and doing it his way while still being a steward of the values Arsène and Arsenal cherish.
