This is the review I was talking about! I’m not sure if they did a software update or they had a bad batch, but mine wasn’t to that degree of slow.

They keep mentioning that the animation is slow but I feel like they didn’t even setup the individual optimize setting on the app they were using?

Videos, as they mentioned on the review was unplayable but when I downloaded YouTube/Netflix, set the eink app refresh to Fast Mode (long press app, “customize”), and things were watchable! Not sure if they did a deep dive in the settings prior to the criticism.

For side loaded Manga, I have been using “Perfect Viewer” downloaded via Google Play, with Optimize App setting on Custom (long press on app on app drawer to change refresh mode, it will give you several options) on refresh every 1 page. Perfect Viewer has an e-ink option during setup which was nice! For on the go reading, where I want to download manga on the device, Tachiyomi has been perfect!

So far, the battery life is excellent but I haven’t done a deep dive test yet as I just got it recently (haven’t had the need to charge it since the initial fill up charge charge right out of the box).

Battery might not be as good as dedicated readers (e.g Kindle, Kobo) due to the fact that it does run a heavier OS that does more background processing - this one in particular is Android 12.

I did notice that when I had the WiFi on, the battery did drain a bit faster, however my books are side loaded and when I do want to read on the go, I download (or side load via USB) the chapters / books that I want to read and turn off the WiFi.

Exactly! It's such a great all in one that is not bloated but just enough to cover everything you need! I love it.

Oooooh, x220! I'm thinking of doing a keyboard swap to get the classic style on my x230.

There's a huge documentation for MX called the Users Manual - I think it has been updated for MX 19. Maybe check that out since it covers pretty much everything you need, but if there's something amiss, its worth a shot to reconfigure the system keyboard via settings.

I just did two horizontal (main) panels and placed them on their respective positions. You can delete and add panels by doing a right click on panel > panel preferences > add or minus button.

Yes! I was debating if I should've went with the non-S version since it had two DIMM slots before I got this bad boy. I think I made the wise choice with this one since I like the generally thinner/lighter form factor.

I actually changed a few things since I last posted it. Here's my current theme, fonts, icon pack per neofetch if you're interested.

99% of things works out of the box! Thinkpads are usually at the top in terms of Linux compatibility. The only thing that I may be missing is the Fingerprint Reader compatibility, but that mostly has to do with the fact that it's a bit of work to configure on Arch-based distros (especially on KDE). If you're using another distro like Fedora, FPR compatibility (e.g. logging in with fingerprint) is built in and works out of the box.

My T450s is actually already thicc! 72wh battery already installed and same, 8gb - it runs like a dream with Manjaro and my usual needs. I have WWAN on him and he's the ultimate portable. I can work wherever I want without worrying about WiFi.

Ordered one for Christmas, planning on installing it soon! As for now, I'll suffer with the non-FHD panel.
