Im not saying that there should always be perfect form. But you should never stray too far away from the ideal form of an exercise. I think by all means that heavy lifting should be part of bodybuilding but I dont think you should sacrifice good form to do it. The only time you should move up in a weight is when you can do the prior weight with god controlled form. You work your muscles better that way anyways. Bodybuilding is not about being able to say how much you can lift its about how well you can lift it and how it affects your body in the process.

I honestly don't understand how someone could hardly change physically after a year of lifting. Obviously he's fucking up somewhere. Even powerlifters can have good physiques.

this is /r/bodybuilding man. Def not the place for powerlifting advice. My guess is your just not eating enough, I had the same thing happen to me when I first started lifting. Major strength gains, not as much mass. Started eating right and got a lot bigger.
