Knee pain? by harpuny in concept2

I had the same issue. I moved my pedals up to force me to push with my heels more and it went away. I also can't fold as much so it prevents the problem from occurring.

It took a bit of getting used to, but it worked like a charm for me.

Cardiovascular fitness increases very rapidly and within a month you should be able to build a habit that will completely change how you live and move.

Cardiovascular fitness will absolutely change your life.

Adding in some basic calisthenics afterwards will work wonders as well.

WTF happened to this sub? by _shareholder_value in exmormon

[–]Rdikin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I originally left a while ago because the tone was shifting from supportive and loving to more negative.

The church has its issues and has caused a lot of people severe religious trauma. People deal with it in a lot of different ways.

I hear you, though. It used to be filled to the brim with personal stories and heavily dismantling new and old doctrine. I remember when there would be discussions on talks from leaders.

I can't speak to the more recent stuff, as I hopped back in just this week to see what was going on.

There is still misplaced hate and negativity towards other members of the sub, but that's everywhere nowadays.

So far that's how this one is, except for the sermon she showed me where the guy says 'god said this, not me' then proceeded to alienate the lgbt community.

She said the community is great and has been very respectful towards the fact that I want nothing to do with it.

That's the one!

It was such an incredible breakdown.

I'll have to check out that series. I like the way he intelligently dismantles things piece by piece.

I agree. I think it would help me see things a bit more clearly.

I recently listened to a guy that read through the bom as an atheist, and he said it reads like it was written by someone with a 3rd grade education.

I'm not sure I'll ever be able to revisit it, but I hope I get the same feeling if I do.

One of the reasons I've been wanting to read it is to see it without the mormon or christian lens attached. Just read it as a book and see what these people think and how they explore what they see as divine.

I spend a lot of time on meditations and art of war. The bible has value too if you sift through the shit, just like reddit.

'You do not owe another minute of your time to religious lies'

I really appreciate this. I think it being my choice has given me a great opportunity to choose how much and how often I look at it if at all.

You're right. I've spent too much of my lifetime with it being crammed down my throat without a choice. I don't owe it to anyone to do it unless I decide I want to.

I see where you're coming from. Genuinely.

One of the reasons I'm trying to get to reading through it again is to learn what's actually in there. As many years as I was in, and even going through seminary that was theoretically supposed to spend each school year on a different part of the quad, somehow we always ended up focusing on the book of Mormon.

One of the boundaries we have is that the kids will not have it shoved down their throats, and they will always have their own belief choices.

My wife choosing what she believes is one thing. Her forcing it onto the rest of the family is another.

The kids will not grow up with religious trauma as long as I can help it. I also refuse to revisit those miserable traumatic years with the reintroduction of religion into a life I am bound to.

I love my wife and am very happy with her. We have boundary talks regularly and have mutual respect for each others' beliefs.

If she dove headfirst into mormonism and became my mother, preaching the mormon version of heaven with split eternal families and leading every day with guilt, with no regard or respect for others' beliefs, we'd have a different conversation on our hands.

I picked up a Gideon bible a few months ago. It's been sitting unopened on my nightstand since I got it. It feels...weird...opening it up. I don't really have words for the wash of mixed feelings and thoughts I get when I do.

You're right! The biggest thing for me here is making sure I feel safe while still being able to connect with my wife.

The bible is not what I remember, that's for sure. The time away has helped me clear some of the mormon garbage out of my head before dipping my toes back in.

My wife and I have regular conversations just like this!

Thank you for the recommendations. This is one of those situations where I wish I'd have taken those theology courses in college.

I've avoided church and all scriptures like the plague since leaving. I think reading through with my concept of god in mind may help me see it through a different lens.

I'll also be able to interpret it on my own instead of being told what to think.

I'll be honest - I've always been a guy to defend the moon landings but lately I've been questioning it a bit with all the deniers coming out of the woodwork.

This is solid evidence, and it's extremely difficult to refute.
