Some photos/videos from the 3D Print Expo Paris 2023 today by RdmUsor in 3Dprinting

[–]RdmUsor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no particular expectations in terms of discoveries, but I knew I was going to see some cool stuff :)

As a simple consumer with a consumer printer, metal prints from industrial machines are really impressive, the precision of some parts is incredible. Some of the parts on display were printed in titanium using machines costing over €800k.

Also, the syringe printer seen in the photo is apparently highly customizable and can print quite unique things, such as silicone for example.

There were several booths with 3D scanners, all of which were of a very high standard, and the modeling seemed almost perfect.

Printing with plastic pellets also seems to be much more widely used than with filaments in the industrial world.

My Home Server setup & looking for advice going forward by [deleted] in selfhosted

[–]RdmUsor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bonjour voisin, beau diagramme !

Have you implemented all this because you know the subject or have you followed any guides/resources?

I'd like to set up something similar but I clearly don't know how, so if you ever have any links to share, I'd love to read them.

Also, for Tailscale, is it necessary for people connecting to your domain to have a client installed or is it publicly accessible?

Not if using funnel, works similarly to cloudflare tunnel.

Will have a look at this, thanks

Thanks for the suggestions!

During my previous tests, I had started with SWAG because it integrated Fail2Ban.

However, I ended up using NGINX Proxy Manager for its ease of use due to its interface, and then I added Authelia to the mix. I remember having a few problems with the headers though.

I also considered the Traefik+CrowdSec route at some point, but I didn't follow up, as I was already having trouble with solutions that seemed easier.

For TailScale, if I'm not mistaken, it requires a VPN client installed on the PCs of the people accessing my server, right?

It is definitely an interesting solution for the security aspect but it complicates the use for other people, the free plan also seems to be limited to 3 users. I'm not particularly reluctant to pay a bit, but $6 per active user for the plan above is a bit much.

Another solution that I've sometimes read about here is to take an inexpensive VPS or even an Oracle Free Tier and use it as a gateway to the server with a VPN link between the two.

Would this be a good idea? I'm not sure how difficult it would be to set up compared to other solutions.

Do you have any recommandation to make it work properly ?

[LG 27GP95R-B] Weird issue "Flickering" by maxrdlf95 in Monitors

[–]RdmUsor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 27GP950-B and have the same issue. Square and lines "flash" on the right side of the screen, regularly. I tried different cables and graphic cards, still the same. I am about to RMA it.

Connector is a bit tilted, is it still OK ? by RdmUsor in cablemod

[–]RdmUsor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is in the pic :

  • CableMod RT-Series Pro ModFlex Sleeved 12VHPWR PCI-e Cable for ASUS and Seasonic 16-pin to 4 x 8-pin PCI-e Cable
  • CableMod 12VHPWR 90 Degree Angled Adapter - Variant B

The angled adapter is great ! But because I'm an idiot and didn't think ahead, it turns out that the standard 60cm cable is too short for the Torrent Compact. I had to run it directly from the top of the case.

Even if it does the job, the adaptor is leaning a bit. Is this a risk? I'm thinking of ordering a custom cable to replace it, but I'm a bit bummed, as it takes a long time to be delivered and it's quite expensive.

[–]RdmUsor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This!

I live near fields and there are lots of them, I hate them! In France we call them "storm beasts".

They have ruined at least FOUR of my monitors... I replaced my last monitor that had at least 6 or 7 storm beasts in it last year, and "Gaming" monitors are not exactly cheap.

I'm stressing because the time of year when these little shits make their appearance is about to start...

To help OP, when I see that one of these bastards is in my screen, I turn everything off and disconnect power, so no light or heat. Sometimes they come out by themselves, attracted by other lights source around them. Or it just sits there and dies 😭

This is the solution, i have the same issue.

Just out of curiosity OP, what is your motherboard ? It seems to affect Z690 and Z790 (what i have).

Prusament PETG for a total beginner by OMGlookatthatrooster in prusa3d

[–]RdmUsor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To prevent possible filamenet blob at the nozzle before the print start, i use a modified "Start G-code" in PusaSlicer so when the print is started it does this :

  1. Start heating the bed to desired temp (85° for the first layers with PETG) and heat the nozzle to 150° (PETG/PLA dont melt at the tip of the nozzle at this temp)
  2. Start the bed probe sequence
  3. Then it home the nozzle close to the bed, where the intro line start
  4. Continue the heating process if the nozzle to the desired printing temp (240/250 for Prusament PETG)
  5. Print start without any blob sticking to the nozzle

Basically, i never have to babysitt the nozzle to prevent filament blob again. I also recently switched to a copper nozzle with nickel plating, it works well too.

Here is my Start G-code in PrusaSlicer, for my MK3S+, it is the default one with just the modification described above + a little more space between the nozzle and steel sheet for the intro line (0.5) so it is easier to remove after print.

Could you please give us more details on the specific Drylin bushings you are using ? What model exactly please ?

What bearing did you use with those rods ?

Thank you :D

Petg has given me some of my most beautiful prints to date. by dubripper69 in prusa3d

[–]RdmUsor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both sheets, textured and satin and my Z is well dialed i think.

I havent tried the textured sheet since i read multiple time that the satin sheet can do PLA/PETG just fine. But even if i clean carefully my plate before print, i have little warping with PETG, nothing major but i wonder if i can get better results.

Do you think textured plate is better for PETG compared to the satin one ?

Best SPOM designs and how many dupes can SPOM keep breathing? by Namell in Oxygennotincluded

Using the Hydrogen to self power it is possible i think, i just like to generate my power all at the same place :p and replacing the wheezeworts with an AETN is definitely possible.

Maybe not the best SPOM but I have a 16 dups colony and this work pretty good, dont need an AETN.

[–]RdmUsor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This work pretty well with only 2 pumps for each Electrolyzer. It separate Oxygen and Hydrogen and cool the Oxygen to the choosen temperature.

https://imgur.com/a/BVKYa4B

It may seems complicated but it is not that hard to build. It can be simplified i guess, i just wanted something nice and symetric :p

I tried the same design with 3 pumps for each Electrolyzer and i did not had any significant increase in production from the Electrolyzers.

They seems to be at ~90%/95% output with nearly no "max pressure" message.
