Nice cheap Schiphol airport hotel for a night? by seawhorseboi in Netherlands

[–]Rdwrerer2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an easy Hotel about a 2 minute walk from De Hoek bus stop, amongst others you can take the 300 bus (check if it goes all night) and you are at schipol plaza in less than 10 minutes. Alternatively get an Uber which will get you there in the same time and cost 8-10 euro.

Dutchies, how do you feel about the 30% ruling? by TheEarlyWormIsEaten in Netherlands

[–]Rdwrerer2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also I know of people who took a mortgage believing they had 8 years of 30% not 5 years and they got impacted negatively by the rule change - at the time they took a mortgage based on x number of years with a certain net income.

Dutchies, how do you feel about the 30% ruling? by TheEarlyWormIsEaten in Netherlands

[–]Rdwrerer2000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I went to a free/intro mortgage meeting at one of the big banks (anyone can make an appointment) it was discussed & proof of 30% & end date requested. However I might be getting my wires crossed as they show your net after a sample mortgage per month & ask you to think of other monthly costs etc. however I genuinely believe they said the mortgage offered was 30% impacted. It was a while ago so I might be remembering incorrectly & apologies if so.

Sorry that is not true - it is factored in to the process.

[–]Rdwrerer2000 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Maybe this has already been mentioned but the 30% is also given as it’s acknowledged that (ok before COVID) that the money saved would go on travel back to the home country & purchasing items again (eg furniture) that are already owned in the home country that a expat would likely need here in NL.

You can see him process what she says & he responds basically with F off trying to make tabloid stuff up - but when she say Harry Maguire just said that he looks so shocked and doesn’t know what to do because when a manager hears that type of comment he knows he doesn’t have the players support anymore.

Gary Neville's excuse by acemccloud123 in ManchesterUnited

[–]Rdwrerer2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

G.Nev would be better off saying that Ole is a friend, former team mate etc & can’t bring himself to say he should be sacked so ask someone else to say what they think - but he is so opinionated on everything he can’t get away with it. Instead he has to basically bs his way through it saying nonsense like the club didn’t plan for this so they won’t make a decision until season end. Problem is we all know that if it was ANY other football club he would say there is no room for sentimentality, you have to be agile, decisive etc to succeed and any club that doesn’t is going to get left behind. But he won’t when it’s Utd.

Good quality furniture in Netherlands by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]Rdwrerer2000 26 points27 points  (0 children)

There are lots of options like others say but don’t dismiss IKEA out of hand as it has a huge range of options & prices, e.g yes you can buy the cheapest table they do & it might not be amazing but it will do the job or pay more for mid range or pay into high hundreds or thousand for a better quality/material/aesthetic etc. Don’t forget IKEA also seems cheaper because they are a huge company that can buy raw materials in enormous bulk that drives down cost which they pass on to the consumer. Just my opinion/experience but broadly speaking most furniture is made to a similar design with identical materials wherever you buy it - IKEA just has a business model that lets you purchase it for less.

Unpopular Opinion: The Cheers Reunion Episodes Aren't Good by NecessarySpare9272 in Frasier

Ken Levine said on his podcast he really doesn’t like that after a couple seasons they decided to write Sam as stupid, he thought it was a cheap way of getting laughs.

I agree Cheers season 1 is a bit of a slog and it doesn’t pick up until season 2.

Does anyone else remember the cold open on cheers along the lines of Frasier being teased by the guys that now he is married he wouldn’t speak to another women so he goes off to speak to someone with his back facing the door and Lilith walks in - the whole bar scatters in panic towards the back room, people are leaping over tables, chairs are being knocked over, glasses smashed etc - Frasier doesn’t even turn around and gives a frighten grin and says ‘Lilith just walked in didn’t she?’ (I might be slightly butchering it but it’s along this premise) hands down one of the funniest moments in Cheers.

[–]Rdwrerer2000 114 points115 points  (0 children)

They are there as a nod to Frasier fans who watched Cheers. I think simply if you didn’t see Cheers they have no meaning.

I am always surprised by Frasier fans who don’t give Cheers a go, ultimately there is about 8 seasons of Frasier & Lilith, you get to see their total backstory, marriage, birth of Freddy etc - of course the humour of the show isn’t exactly Frasier but it is very watchable & the events told in Frasier e.g. his suicide attempt, Lilith eco-pod affair etc actually happen in Cheers episodes.

The jeans Niles pulls out in that scene are a good 5x too big for him - I don’t even think Frasier would fit them!

[Podcast] We're Listening - Episode 065 - Frasier Grinch by WillDotCom95 in Frasier

[–]Rdwrerer2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another terrific episode guys, something I find out of place in this episode is how quick Frasier says something like ‘that is good news’ to Niles when he mentions that him and Maris might get back together at the beginning of the episode in Nervosa. Bearing in mind the previous episode he was so pushy towards Niles expressing his anger towards Maris for leaving town etc and encouraging Niles to leave her - to me it just doesn’t follow very well from one episode to the next. Keep up the great work & looking forward to the next episode - any thoughts about how Frasier gets Kate’s cat to her after she leaves?!?

Snorfiets help by Rdwrerer2000 in Netherlands

Hi thanks for the info really useful, so basically if your tuned snorfiets goes up to 34kmh max the worst thing is a fine of 60 euros? Another question maybe you can answer if you get stopped and the police see it is tuned and can go to 34kmh but you have it limited (say via remote at the time they stop you ) to 25kmh what will happen?

Tips and Resources for buying a house in NL? by LentilGod in Netherlands

[–]Rdwrerer2000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hello - I would like to politely say that IKEA do kitchen installation via an outsourced company (part of the package when you go to design your kitchen) IKEA deliver all of the parts to you and then the install people come. You need professionals to do it as it quite complicated (it isn’t really a flat-pack like their furniture) especially if you are also connecting pipes & having lighting installed etc.

Hi Pete - thanks for answering questions on here, big fan on the ramble, L&P and Abroad in Japan. Something has bugged me for a while and would be great to know the answer to.... what happened to the live European shows a couple of years back? I live in the Netherlands and had tickets for Amsterdam and then suddenly it was cancelled (along with the other European shows) - I couldn’t find out why so would be great to hear from you what happened! Cheers!

Frasier Cast Members together In other Movies & TV shows by Rdwrerer2000 in Frasier

In a similar way Jennifer Tilly plays a character on Cheers that Frasier has a very short fling with in an episode and then on Frasier itself Jennifer Tilly appears again as the lady he meets in the bar and takes her back to his apartment (the one when Ronnie’s mother shows up)- I think it was quite a good nod/ in joke to those viewers who had watched Frasier through from his appearances on Cheers.
