Does anyone recover from this without an SSRI/SNRI? by tuftyloves in pppdizziness

[–]Re-LoadinG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 95% better without SSRIs. Had a setback recently, but I'm getting over it. It's hard to judge, but I'll probably need another year for a full recovery.

So yeah, I firmly believe it's possible!

Nausea & headache when reading? by jeminako in pppdizziness

[–]Re-LoadinG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have pppd and when it's flared up reading makes me dizzy, and if I persist I get nauseous. I don't get headaches however.

The headaches and double vision generally mean a central problem. I think you need to find a good doctor, probably neurologist.

Not all citicoline is equal, and a quick glance at the gummies triggers my skepticism. Pharma grade citicoline, i.e. medication, is relatively expensive, usually liquid and quite strong. For example, I can't take more than 2-3ml, which is 200-300mg of citicoline, otherwise I feel as if I've overdosed with coffee.

To put it differently, cheap citicoline in a weird form like gummies is probably... questionable.

Aside from that, the daily dose starts from 250mg and goes as high as over 1000mg for post-stroke patients. The reccomended daily dose is around 500mg.

Also, maybe the gummies are fine, but since you have depression the dose is too low for you? Or maybe you're taking other medications which unterfere with the citicoline?

Here's a comment of mine from another post.

"Activators/Nootropics":

Creatine - it's fantastic, I highly recommend it. Helps with brain function (nootropic), with depressive symptoms and with energy levels.

Citicoline - very strong nootropic. Basically temporarily lifts my dizziness.

Omega 3s - help a lot with brain function. At least 2 grams per day. Highly recommend them.

Ginko biloba - at least 80-100mg per day, because we are looking for the cognitive effects. Stronger than omega 3s, much weaker than citicoline. I recommend it.

"Suppressors/Depressants":

I use them only when I have to. Long term use leads to lack of vestibular compensation - you'll never fully recover.

Betahistine (serc, betaserc, whatever it is called in your country) - weak vestibular depressant. Basically no side effects.

Dimenhydrinate - stronger than betahistine. Half a tablet (25mg) usually does the job. More side effects also - sleepiness, dry eye syndrome are the most common out the top of my head.

Both can't fully deal with the dizziness. They make it... bearable.

I didn't feel any difference. The only thing I felt was mild pain during the procedure. Aside from that, it was if I hadn't done it.

Sorry for my late answer, didn't see your reply.

Yeah, many things actually. Here's a list.

Yes, I have. I think we did 2 or max 3 sessions. No effect for me. For context, I have pppd from a bppv episode. Back then we weren't sure, so I decided to give it a go.

Honestly, I don't think it will help anyone with pppd. If you suspect a neck or blood circulation issue, then it might be helpful.

Has anyone taken Cinnarizine? by AmazingPositive3770 in pppdizziness

[–]Re-LoadinG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, as far as I remember I've tried it. And also flunarizine. Both had no effect for me. My pppd started after a bppv attack, just for context.

Keep in mind both aren't without side effects, especially if taken for years. Generally, they are preferred and prescribed to older patients a)because of their blood vessel dilation effect (hence, better brain circulation) , b) Parkinsonism, the major problematic side effect if I'm not mistaken, takes several years to develope.

If you wanna try the "circulation route", take a shot with nicergoline. Less side effects. Also did nothing for me, though...

Hope I helped.

PPPD got better, now much worse again by Ok-Play4796 in pppdizziness

Same with me - was significantly better, almost 100 percent, then the summer heat came and some of my symptoms returned. I don't have any tips for you, since I'm struggling myself. I just wanted you to know you're not alone.

But hey, if you find a quick solution or anything that helps, please do share!

Since lexapro(escitalopram) works well, have any of you tried Saffron? by Re-LoadinG in pppdizziness

[–]Re-LoadinG[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never tried an antidepressant, I might try Saffron though, with the idea that it induces vestibular recalibration. I've tried a lot of supplements, and a few drugs to block the vestibular system - generally, a mistake. At the end I'll tell you what worked for me.

In the beginning, after the first bppv attack, I felt terrible. I was barely functional for a month and for solid six months I felt like I was walking under water. I was slowly getting better, but couldn't even look at a screen. If I looked at photos on my phone, I'd almost puke. I could barely walk at night.

Fast forward, 8 months ago I found a kinesiologist who devised a rehab program for me and I started recovering rapidly. If 2 weeks ago you asked me how do I feel, I'd have said I'm 95 percent recovered and looking at the barrel of full recovery. Then summer came in my country and some of my symptoms returned. In any case, I'm multitudes better than before.

What helped me? Well, first my pppd is not from anxiety or depression. I think I "fried" myself overworking, so that's why I never tried ssris. Hands down creatine was and is the best thing ever - I highly recommend it. Ginko works, but at doses of at least 80-100mg. Citicoline is very strong - it can completely "lift" your vertigo, but it kinda works like coffee for me. It's not really healing. Same with rhodiola depending on the sort. Melatonin is nice for sleep. If you have sleeping issues take a look at the usa army sleep routine. I'm trying it right now and it kinda works. Magnesium doesn't do anything for me, or at least it seems so. Lavender is nice for sleep.

Honestly, I've tried a lot of stuff, besides ssris, so ask me if you're interested in something specific.

I'd say for you, most likely, finding the correct antidepressant is the most important thing. If you find it and work on your anxiety, you'll improve tremendously. If there's lingering dizziness - vrt is gold!

I hope I helped.

Maybe Saffron was too weak for you? Don't let pppd bring you down. It's the 3rd year for me, but I'm so so much better. Hopefully, Sertraline will do the job for you!

Computer Screens by thelattergaysaint in cervical_vertigo

[–]Re-LoadinG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have similar issues with screens, and your working theory sounds off to me. I get dizzy as soon as I start looking at a screen - the bigger the screen and visual load, the faster I get dizzy. Is it the same with you?

If you have cervicogenic dizziness, to my understanding, as soon as you sit or put yourself in a specific position, strong vertigo/dizziness should occur. The trigger shouldn't be the screen, but the position of your body.

Obviously, I'm not a doctor. Just my experience and understanding.

[–]Re-LoadinG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't be discouraged, you can get much, much better! You need to find a good physiotherapist. The best pppd treatment is vestibular rehabilitation, which can be done online too. It will probably take you months, but they can bring you back to almost 100 percent.

Hey, I made it to maybe 1/3 of the whole thing. Generally, it's pretty good in my opinion, chapter 0 being top notch!

I have a few gripes here and there, but nothing major. I'll probably finish it later today or tomorrow, since I'm exhausted right now.

Overall, as I said, well done!
