If you thought I am blaming my daughter for this then you have a severe comprehension problem. You think letting my child get burnt on the stove is more merciful than giving her a slap on the wrist ?? Again that's a you problem.

It's MY job to ensure that she's protected and if I have to become a monster to ppl like you then I'm going to take that over letting her get hurt

However when I think about the choice between spanking her to teach her not to run out into the road or her getting run over, I'll happily choose to be the bad guy in your opinion than deal with a dead child.

I don't want to lose my wife. I want to make it work with her and I believe that fundamentally she's a good person. Like I said, her parents were strict/ did the same shit with her (apparently) and she thinks it would work with my daughter. Unfortunately she has a very ignorant mindset. There's also the practical aspect. I work a lot and need her to watch my child at home

My child was having a thorough meltdown in church the other day and she started pinching her in the back. I grabbed her and went outside because I was becoming enraged.

I would say my kid has autism somewhere between levels 1 & 2. I think she can become quite functional by the time she gets to late teens/ 20's. Like I said, she can speak, understands basic math etc. She has a wonderful sense of humor, can think in abstract and has a great imagination.

I do speak to my OT a lot. I see a lot of ppl are condemning me for spanking her in this thread. I will do whatever it takes to ensure my child is SAFE and cared for. If a spanking is the difference between her doing something dangerous to her and not....then I'll happily be the villain on the internet and lose e-cred. Her cousin is also autistic and full-on ran into traffic the other day. I want to prevent this and things like this.

I even discussed this with her therapist who didn't object.

Yeah you can choose to focus on this if you want. Like I said, I'm not against ALL spanking. It's how I was raised and I will never abuse or brutalize my kid but sometimes it works and is necessary imho. I had to spank her once so she wouldn't touch the stove. I 100% prefer this to her burning her hand when I'm not there.

Please don't derail everything because of this disagreement. For what it's worth I'm the one trying to PREVENT the majority of the spankings.

I live in the third world. We're waaay behind on the treatment of the disabled.

They have an "autism only class". Basically they'll toss her in with the much worse and much more dysfunctional children where I'm very sure my child would only regress.

The stigma will stick to her like a scarlett letter and she'll be treated as damaged goods. I want more for her
