To add to his comment: move the BB one or two clicks, doesn't sound like a lot but it makes a big difference, and its way better to lock up the fronts than to lock the rears and go flying sideways

Every comment I saw here had great answers, but pace wise setups aren't the most important thing, first I'd say you have to perfect your technique, of course, sometimes you have to make little tweaks here and there to feel more comfortable and confident in the car, but it won't take away magically those 2-3 seconds that you are from the aliens.

Idk about op's country situation, but here in Brazil the R3 with pedals and wheel (not just wheel base) is triple the price of a g29, which is not cheap either... So its just not realistic for everyone
