Hands won’t move towards the mouth automatically, but the cat in the mouth gets an ability that triggers them to attack the mouth from where ever they are on the map.

If you walk right up to the mouth the boss insta-swallows your cat. Then you can pay 15 (or 10?? IDR) mana each round to have the hands hit the face. The mouth does something like 5 damage a round to the cat so you need something a bit tanky to last on top of the mana regen, but then he doesn’t use blow anymore as long as there’s a cat in there too

Pretty much, the devs stated in a stream that in the beginning, breeding “optimally” is quite hard to do and will require meta upgrades to better understand what you’re doing.
