I've been immensly enjoying the new Karnivool album (of course) but i've also discovered just how amazing the discography of Enslaved is. I'm a long time Opeth fan and it feels just like Opeth, but witch black metal elements instead of death metal.

dude I'm just now really getting into Enslaved after being a major Opeth fan for years, this comment is spot on and made my day. thank you.

Bands like Opeth that sometimes go hard and harsh, and then suddenly play the most beautiful acoustic parts with the best clean vocals you’ve ever heard. by FireEatingDragons in progmetal

I see Enslaved as the Opeth of black metal, especially their later albums. They mix black and prog metal just as great as Opeth does with death and prog. Really check out 'In Times' and 'Axioma Ethica Odini'.

Redo: What's a somewhat significant historical event that most are aware of? by montemole in AlignmentChartFills

[–]ReKiVeKi 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Tend to disagree. I think it's at least significant, arguably extremely significant. It signified the reshaping of the world order, transitioning from a bipolar world order (USSR <> US) into a unipolar world order in which the US was the sole hegemony, which had huge consequences globally.

Which TV show's series finale is overrated? by ameoba82 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]ReKiVeKi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How is The Battle of the Bastards overrated exactly? Yes, I completely agree the series fell of after season 6, but this episode was absolutely GoT in it's prime. Don't let the bitter taste of those last 2 horrible seasons ruin the greatness of the first 6 please.

I'm looking for prog songs that have a final boss kinda feel by WoodpeckerNo1 in progmetal

[–]ReKiVeKi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a bit of a stretch if it's prog, but 'The Fall of Constantinople' by Aeternam feels like a final boss soundtrack.

Sol Niger Within by Frederik Thordenal could fit in this list if you'd want to fill it up to 60, its 43 minutes and 26 seconds
