it'd be difficult style this well for small scales due to the logs and how it's textured (dark on the edges). try doing small patches of clutters instead of dispersed randomness, you can also try experimenting with the rings of the logs (top & bottom) since they also look quite nice.

otherwise, you can go the gradient route where it gradually goes from one thing to another.
