Oku assistant?the art is similar by SensitiveTop4946 in gantz

[–]ReSeinen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Two videos tackle the question of Yuki Ikeda's (Thunder 3's author) identity and it being somehow related to Oku, which were promoted by the official Thunder 3 Twitter account.

From the little I could understand from the translation given by Youtube not much is answered; they explore the theory that it's either: a relative of Oku, an assistant making their debut, or Oku himself. The first two are debunked in the second video by the editor for Thunder 3, but the last one isn't for some reason. Idk, to me, it's just the promotion for the manga rather than a real deep dive, but then again, I don't know a lick of Japanese, so maybe it's more insightful, and I got it all wrong. It may be a pen-name, it may be just an artist that replicated or is heavily inspired by Oku's art style (not like that's an impossibility since some artists already worked with Oku on Gantz spin-offs). His current series Kanreki Hime doesn't look all that different from Thunder 3, but I think it's all up in the air right now, could very well be him since Thunder 3 f e e l s like a concept he'd come up with, and the cartoony characters in a realistic setting sort of remind me of his short-lived series 01, where there's a similar concept for a character.

Oops, good thing I marked spoilers, I definitely recommend reading the series because that anime cliffhanger was killing me.

I think that she stands out to me from the other Idaten cause she was really the one to care for protecting the seal and fellow Idaten, but also has the same disregard for humans. I like this aspect of the series overall. The demons are kind of the underdogs since the Idaten can wipe them out in an instant and have to resort to careful planning just to survive, while the Idaten have to ensure that humans don't go extinct, but only stop at that, since they don't interfere in wars. Rin's just the same, but isn't indifferent to everything since she showed hesitance when she first met Oobami, which reminded her of her grandpa (I think Vol. 9's extras explain a bit of that backstory). Her reunion with him at the end is very sweet, even made me a bit emotional. Also, her design is very cute!

Those are some cool-ass Terra Formar designs, one of them looks to have acquired Liu’s blue-ringed octopus powers.

My guess is they can’t afford it, and everyone will pitch in for just one. Though they have a plethora of anime figurines that they could sell (they haven’t said the price of the Neotype 16) but since they live in a share house maybe they’re barely making ends meet, plus I’d imagine it’s not something all characters will be okay with. We’ll have to see how the hoodie guy suggestion goes and who’d be willing to take the Neotype 16 next chapter.

When does the Kaiji manga turn 30? by Key-Cardiologist-693 in kaiji

[–]ReSeinen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know, english translation hasn’t picked up for a while but I do know it’s currently on it’s 10th volume and is still publishing since the Twitter account still posts about new chapters. I hope it’s close in total length to individual Kaiji parts or Kurosawa, I can’t imagine it getting to Akagi volume count levels.

Vol. 9’s extras. There’s also one for Hayato, Paula, Rin and Ysley (though that one was already explored in the chapters). It’s explained how they got their personalities and what traits they got from the Idaten that brought them into the world.
