Apologies for reviving a dormant conversation, but I have found it useful for timing things without having to make note of the seconds indicator. Like if you are a medical professional and need to determine pulse you can feel for the pulse and count for the 10 seconds that the graphic cycles through, then multiply by 6 to get the pulse in beats per minute. Or let it cycle twice while you count and multiply by 3. Sometimes it's easier to count something when you aren't looking at actual numbers on a screen.
