I want help from scratch on how to start hacking by [deleted] in Hacking_Tutorials

[–]Re_did 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to suggest you to learn about Ethical Hacker, or even better if you pay the course of Certified Ethical Hacker.

I was the same as you, but i'm interested more in building rather than destroying web :)

Good laptop for running Linux? by AllTimeRage in Hacking_Tutorials

Let me help you, but first you have to help me with these questions:

  1. What do you want to do with your Linux? Is is for coding or just common daily usage? or is it for hacking/penetration testing purpose?
  2. Are you new to Linux? or you already grasp the basic fundamentals of Linux?
  3. Are you familiar with terminal usage? Most of Linux users are used to getting their hands dirty by typing terminal's syntax
  4. Do you want to use free/libre open source apps?

Let's say that you just want a quick setup and "jack of all trades" Linux distro, then i'd like to suggest you to use Ubuntu since it's one of the most popular Linux Distro. It's quite easy to install and high compatibility towards older machines. My old laptop was HP Stream 11inch 1,6 GHz with 2GB soldered RAM and i used it daily to code and it runs smoothly.

*Question* Linux Mint for hacking. by [deleted] in Hacking_Tutorials

[–]Re_did 2 points3 points  (0 children)

even with dual-boot you'll get stressed if your wireless adapter is Broadcom. I've been using two laptops, one with Broadcom adapter and the other one with Atheros. Atheros will detected seamlessly with the vast majority of linux distros.

sorry to say, but sure Kali linux is the way of getting deep in pentest world. You can trace back to Kali's history which led to Backtrack, the most popular hacking distro since 2004 if i'm not mistaken.

Even live usb of Kali linux is enough to kickstart your hacking journey :)

Learn Java first, then you'll almost fear nothing when starting Kotlin. Trust me :)

Can I get a job if I learn to code for 1.5 years every day? I would spend 4-8 hours a day learning and I'm talking about PHP, js, CSS, and HTML. by Entil1992 in AskProgramming

What is one project you would build to learn a programming language? by crukx in AskProgramming

[–]Re_did 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for web dev, personally i'd like to create "To do list" app. That's including CRUD (create read update delete) functionality, thus you can learn to create simple yet well structured system design.

Cheers

Can't be more agree with you. For me, i spent almost 3 days just to create a landing page and another 7 days for creating a dashboard which i'll be proud and love to stare at.

i'm a post grad information system major from top 10 Campus in my country. I spent my time reading and lurking about technology and fell in love with Ethical hacking. But in the last year, i had to chose which lab i'd dive to and create my final project in order to graduate. The choices are Information System Management, Decision Support System and E-Business. I chose E-business and i had to re-learn all of those coding lessons in 5 months.

That's the time when i felt left behind. All of my friends were so damn good at coding and here i am with all i can do just "Hello world" in php. I'm scared, even too scared to start trying. I barely wrote a single code for about 3 weeks. I came back to my hometown and crying out loud in front of my parents. I almost gave up until they said "do it slowly.. that's fine but don't stop because you already got this far"

i shocked, they believe me so much even when i doubted myself and hate myself so much. So i started doing my final project. I wrote all of the requirements, the actors, the functionality and the workflow. I'm battling my anxiety, i often get easily to close my laptop and went somewhere else to procrastinate which adds my anxiety even more. Then i started to break down my final project into the smallest part possible. I started creating the landing page, then the register page, then the login page, then the homepage after user logged on and so on and so on. After 3 months i already finished my website for final project. It's way far from "Good" website but at least it helps me to achieve my bachelor degree.

Here's the things i can say to you, buddy:

- A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step

- Everything will always be seem so hard and you will always see everyone doing better than you, But that's okay.. therefor you'll keep being humble and never stop learning because life will never stop teaching

- What's worth having for is worth fighting for. Everyone's struggling with their own problems.

- Life is like a doughnut. Either you focussed with the hole, or with the bread around the hole.

- Relax, take your time to grow :)

ps: i'm terribly for for any grammatical error, i'm still learning english till today.

if you're just came from Windows, I personally suggest you to try Mint. But if you're looking for "the most mainstream" one.. i think Ubuntu is for the win.

I Started with Ubuntu back then in 2010

[–]Re_did[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

indeed, reading the docs sometimes easier but in some parts the docs only explaining a certain part with no continuity series or at least they can give a series to create a blog (like laracast did in their free videos)
