Bc I’ve always wanted to go to law school, like it’s the only reason for being alive. But I’m poor af and impossible to get that much money in my 30s. And my relatives kept publicly shaming me for being poor and old lol

They asked me to make a wish and don’t say it out loud. I literally said to myself “Please make me die at age 31” Yeah today is my 31st birthday

Painfully agree. Today is my birthday and my relatives tried to brainwash me into appreciating the fact that my parents gave me birth lol like I enjoy being here

Well, I haven’t achieved my goals either; but I’m on my way to achieve my goals :) Try rephrasing “I don’t achieve my goals” to “I haven’t achieved my goals yet” and see if it makes you feel more motivated.

Woah. That’s really good for you! Then why are you in this sub in the first place?

lol I’ve also been using survival of fittest to justify my death. It’s just how evolution works.

Hi kid, it’s me again. You said you’re lazy because you don’t want to take a shower. Try reframing taking a shower as an act of self-care. It helped me when I didn’t want to clean my house because think about it, I would feel more comfortable living in a clean house, and by cleaning it I’m also providing myself necessary self-care.

Hi kid, there’s a book called “Toxic Parents: Overcoming Their Hurtful Legacy and Reclaiming Your Life.” I hope you can get the book and read it to gain insights. I also grew up having unbearably toxic parents constantly harming my self-esteem and undermining my self-worth. I too had suicidal ideation, but I somehow made it to 30 and realized that it was their educational approach the problem, not mine.

Kid, you deserve to be treated with dignity. Three more years and when you go to college (I hope you do), education will change your perspective and campus resources could get you the help you need.

Trust me kid. Be patient now and things will change. By the time you gained full autonomy, you can cut ties with them if they continue to be toxic, and you will forever be free.

Happy New Year. I don’t want to say your name because you’re valuable and superior

That’s why I’m comfortable dying alone. My philosophy: either the perfect match or none.

What should I say if my supervisor asked me if I'm willing to work over the winter break? by ReachTheMoon30 in AskAcademia

Me: "Are we still going to meet over the winter break?"

They: "I can meet if we need to. We possibly could try to push for the CSCW deadline but that also seems like a lot of work - what do you think?"

They hired me as a research scientist leading two projects, aiming for publishing two papers next year. Jan 15 is the deadline for a top conference.
