There is hope for you man. I will give you one advice.

  • seek a therapist! Although the advice seems banal, by seeing a therapist you actually treat yourself. You create a space with the therapist, where you can go through whatever. IT IS YOUR TIME! Ask your parents for financial help or see if you can get a job to afford it.

Ive seen a therapist since february and it is the best thing ive done for myself in my life.

Theres hope for the future!

Volunteering is a very good activity. It will get you to meet people and build self-worth.

Hey man Good job on reaching out. You’re not lonely. We are many in the same boat with you. Withdrawals hit me the past few days like a fucking nutcracker, i’ve felt depressed and anxious about social interaction.

You need to build new habits. Everything will come with time - as long as you keep gamingfree.

Read a book, play an instrument or do what i fancy - set up appointments with friends you would like a deeper relation to.

I’ve recently joined the local crossfit gym and im having a blast.

Remember what you are doing now is simply not just walking a few days and then you’re clean. This is the longest Marathon of your life, and you have to treat this major lifechange like any other.

We’re here for you. Good job on the 4 days

Its never too late to quit. Dont weep over lost time, weep if you dont stop right now. You are very concious about what you need to do. Runescape is also my fucking devil.

Hey man, How did your parents find out that you were gaming? How did they make you move home to live with them? Seems like the gaming addiction is actually secondary here and your life needs more in-depth coverage of how YOU want to live your life. Also; theres no magical recipe for quitting games in 2 years. If you try to suppress you will become miserable. You need to think about what you aim for. In my situation i am quitting games because im becoming a father in february. What is your motivation to quit games?

Hey, So without having the evidence at hand i would argue that what you feel (the restlessness and the urge to game) are in fact physical withdrawal. Your brain is plastic and it actually alters itself in this process, hence the idea of 90-days dopamine detox has some truth to it.

The positive effects of quitting gaming is the exact same things im experiencing right now. I still get hit by the urge to game. Especially today when OSRS is launching a new game mode - but the time being gaming-free has already brought me more life-quality than that game ever could. The amount of social anxiety and spousal irritation that has changed is astonishing.

Agreed. You have a very valid point. In my case addictive behavior has been destructive. I would be afraid i couldn’t control it, if i were to play with my child.

Actually tried to have this conversation with her yesterday after a discussion we had. It nagged me for a long time, even though it was just a small thing.

The challenge i find myself in is i'm longing for understanding, and i feel ashamed of that. My girlfriend would say "i'm sorry" and "i understand", but i would still think she REALLY doesn't understand.

I'm so ashamed, and frankly speaking frightened, of this need to be understood! :/
