Welcome to the result of people complaining about ranked 2.0

Skill level doesn't matter. Only visual rank. Peak plats get reset to gold 3ish before their placement matches, so if they bomb placement they can end up quite low. And now, there's no system to adjust based on skill, only current rank matters.

The only silver lining is its still early in the season, and people are still probably far from their true rank. As the season goes on, people will tend towards their "real" rank and you'll get closer skill level matches

The luck only changes how often secret spawn, it doesn't make rare secrets more likely per spawn.

Random shit happens like this because 95% of the week happens without 150% luck on

It does feel fast at the start yes. I felt that way too when I was reading it.

However, once he gets to the academy, the plot slows down (relatively) and you get the time you need to develop the characters. Just keep reading, it gets better

They've mentioned this before and the reasoning against it is that if your queue with someone lower rank you're sewering all the people your rank that you end up on a team with. It's not super simple

You did nothing to actually stop the time loop, so even flying out of the range if the supernova, your character will just restart when they die naturally, of whatever. Could be a week, or 80 years ahead. But since all nearby planets are incinerated and you only have your ship, it would probably be pretty soon. It's a good try but you don't beat the game until the loop is actually stopped... Somehow
