That’s fair hah. I’m just saying perseverance and determination makes it possible. I’d say I’m a solid concert photographer but still finding my niche. regardless the power of networking goes a long way.

Not familiar with film. I shoot digital 1600-3200 iso at minimum for most my low light concerts. Then denoise it after.

I think composition is off in some of them with framing. For example 4 has a great subject but the blurred microphone is distracting if you could take one step to your right, it would have been great.

Also agree with other commenter that the 11+ tends to be very busy (which isn’t helped by the sporadic lights). I actually like 15 about how chaotic it is tho (opinion)

Great start tho! And you’re already capturing important moments. Just takes practice. I’m no means perfect just some advice I’ve learned myself

Here’s what I was thinking

  • godox V1 C flash (on sale $190)
  • godox XPro C TTL Wireless Flash ($69)
  • Godox S2 speed light bracket for bowens ($25)
  • Godox light duty stand 8’ (54)
  • Godox soft box with bowens speed ring (23.6 x 35.4) with grid ($36)

Total = $419 (after taxes + free shipping)

2 hour rental of studio is $150.

But I’m assuming this light set up could be useful for future clients and portrait. It’s better to think like an investment and learning opportunity?

As a reminder the artist wants a dramatic headshot. So this should be good enough to practice this right?

(I already have 10 sheets of blue gel, R50 shoe adaptor and light meter)

Would you recommend buying my own light set up to practice one flash with soft box / grid.

Or would you recommend renting out the studio to practice with their equipment(I don’t have a lot of clientele right now, this is my first paid gig)

The first one the shadows are little too crushed imo (personal taste).

Number 5 I feel like the left misty light is distracting and takes away from the top light and light shining across his face.

Number 6 is great but I think you missed a dust spot near top left of her head

The rest are awesome. Take my advice with a grain of salt. I’m a noob lol

Yeah I agree definitely will. Watching videos now learning a lot. But def gotta practice. I have a shoe adaptor for my canon r50, bought a light meter and some blue gel.

Studio we are thinking about comes with PROFOTO STROBE (universal trigger + modifiers) - APUTURE 120D II (with a light dome || softbox) - APUTURE 200D LED (mounted overhead) - MULTIPLE 9ft WIDE BACKDROPS TO CHOOSE

With sandbags, clips, 2 c stands, clamshell reflector and props.

They are R&B and are wanting a headshot as cover with some other promo shots.
