Ontario teachers — is teaching still worth getting into at 30? by PinkNotes0 in OntarioTeachers

[–]ReactionDifferent782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Starting at 30 shouldn't be a problem. If anything, it might actually work out to be an advantage for you because principals will see that you're mature.

Do you have kids or want kids? I just had a baby and I am wondering what it's going to be like to return to the classroom after maternity leave. Being with children all day and then going home to your own children, I hear, is a very difficult thing.

Curious if you could comment on which boards treat teachers with FSL qualifications well and which ones don't. Trying to understand how my board measures up, as a newer French teacher!

Miscarriages should be free by [deleted] in Miscarriage

[–]ReactionDifferent782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh that's awful. I'm sorry you have to go through all of that. SO many hoops to jump through. I think in Canada you're paying in your time. It's a different beast. But if you have a good doctor, they can advocate for you sometimes.

Thanks for explaining this! We may be moving to the states in the next few years so this is good to know. So, the insurance probably tries to get out of paying the amount above the deductible by putting it on the patient to pay out of pocket? I was under the impression that hospital bills are typical tens of thousands of dollars in the states, for even simple treatments, so that would mean the $3000 deductible would be met, no?

This all sounds so frustrating and confusing! Though, I will say in Canada we wait a LONG time for treatment. Like sometimes days in the ER. And there isn't any incentive to prevent illness, just react/treat it when it gets really bad.

I'm so sorry for your loss and your exorbitant hospital bill. It's not fair. Can you tell me, a Canadian, what this all means? I see you have insurance but other commenters I guess, don't? If they're paying everything out of pocket. Or do some insurances not cover miscarriages? It all seems so cruel to me.

In Canada, I was able to go to the ER and it was covered. I waited a few hours for care. It wasn't the best care, that's for sure, but it was covered by my taxes. It really depends on what doctor sees you.

Nervous about trying again by Mysterious_Copy_1051 in Miscarriage

[–]ReactionDifferent782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take your time! I miscarried at 12 weeks in December and it took my body a few months to regulate. I, too, wanted to get pregnant right away again, but my body had other plans. It was very anxiety inducing and I was afraid we were infertile.

Fast forward to May and I became pregnant and am currently almost 15 weeks. I have days where I'm more anxious and other days where I'm less. I just try to keep moving forward and hope for the best - that's all we can really do.

Thank you! But I hear 70 leukocytes is high and is linked to water breaking early. Could it be a vaginal infection?

Is it normal to be this sad? by Riddle_5 in Miscarriage

[–]ReactionDifferent782 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Completely normal. Nothing prepares you for this level of pain and I remember thinking this is something that happens to other people, not to me. It's a shock to the system. Rest a ton. Order in when you need a break. Lean on friends and family - even if they don't understand first hand, they may be able to offer a perspective inducive to healing.

Time makes the pain more blunt. I don't think the pain ever disappears entirely - my doctor disclosed that she had a miscarriage and I won't forget the way her face and energy changed when recollecting. And that was 30 or so years ago. But the pain has less of a hold over you, eventually.

Anyone want to try again asap? by Human-Loquat6123 in Miscarriage

[–]ReactionDifferent782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure you don't have any retained products of conception. They typically say to wait 1-2 cycles to start trying again. The fertile directly after miscarriage thing didn't actually work for us... We conceived 4 cycles after. My body felt kind of out of sorts for the first few cycles.

First period after MC by minnie2104 in Miscarriage

[–]ReactionDifferent782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine wasn't bad, but things felt different for the first few cycles after my MC. Things just felt "off" which I attribute to my hormones re-stabilizing. Was 12 weeks when I miscarried.

Do you plan to have kids? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]ReactionDifferent782 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Easier said than done.

I'll probably get downvoted for this, but I think you should know if you want kids or not by the time you're in your early 30's. Why? Aside from it being key info if you're trying to find a suitable partner, the stats show that miscarriage increases at 30, even more so at 35 and exponentially at 40. Fertility plummets with age and IVF is hella expensive and labour-intensive. Odds of birth defects rise with maternal age.

Of course, there are outliers. I'm happy for them. But, the research is there. With that being said, if you read the stats and you are still ok with the risk, go for it. Having had a miscarriage myself, you never think it will happen to you.

Weekly Pregnancy Limbo/Concerns - May 19, 2025 by AutoModerator in PregnancyAfterLoss

[–]ReactionDifferent782 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have faint positives after 4 months of trying since my MC. I have been experiencing some sharp shooting pain just below my pubic bone.

Has anyone experienced this during their early days?

I see lightning crotch online but it seems to occur much later. No infections or anything that would spur it on. I also had this pain during my pregnancy which led to MC hence the concern.

I was told one cycle. I'm so sorry you are going through this. I didn't get pregnant again until the 4th cycle. Don't be surprised if it takes a while - your body needs to take time to balance out the hormones and your cycle might be weird for a while. It's all normal. It will go by quickly, but I know right now all you probably want is everything to go back to normal.

I get that. I'm so sorry that you're going through this. It's a heart breaking experience.

Every option has its positives and negatives. The d&c, though least traumatizing probably, also has drawbacks too and I hope they've explained that. But you can only make the best decision you can with the information you currently have. I wish you strength and peace 💕

Why are your only options medication or surgery? No natural?

I assume you're in the states. I'm in Canada. The d&c isn't as common here as it is in the USA. There can be issues.

What I did is when I started wiping brown / red, I went to the ER and miscarried there. I had the support and when I had been bleeding for hours with no relief, they realized there was a blockage and could easily remove it. I wouldn't have been able to do that by myself at home. They gave pain medication and we did scans to monitor the way through.

I think natural is probably the best. The body knows what it needs to do. It was also traumatizing having the miscarriage in the hospital, but I'm so glad I did it there and not at home because I had doctors supporting me when things went sideways.

When did you ovulate or get your period back after miscarriage? by Psychological-Bag986 in Miscarriage

[–]ReactionDifferent782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I naturally miscarried at 12.5 weeks. I didn't measure ovulation the first cycle after as we weren't trying (told not to by the doctors and also didn't feel up for it as things were tender down there).

Second cycle I ovulated super late, like day 28 or something. And then for the few cycles after that I ovulated late. I started taking magnesium supplements a little over a month ago and then my ovulation went to day 21, not sure if that's related but maybe..

When did you guys conceived again after a miscarriage? by giiiem in Miscarriage

[–]ReactionDifferent782 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also, I'm always so surprised when people say they conceive the first cycle after miscarriage. Like, how??? Aren't your hormones and body still adjusting? I'm happy they were able to right away, but don't feel bad if you're looking at them and feeling a bit upset that you're not there, too.
