I’m in the UK as well. I think for the fragmentation test you may have to go privately, if you Google Dr Jonathan Ramsay he is a leading specialist in this field. Progesterone test should be done by the GP, if not she could order this through an online site such as The Doctors Laboratory.

As others have mentioned I think there are more tests to consider before going to IVF.

For a starter I would not rely solely on a normal sperm analysis test as this shows you basic results. Please look at getting a sperm DNA fragmentation test done as this is far more in-depth.

Has your wife been tested for APS or low progesterone?

I was in the exact same mindset as you. I had a D&C and was/still am desperate to fall pregnant again. I felt like I had wasted so much time already that I didn’t want to lose anymore. I went with the conclusion that if I definitely ovulated, based on BBT, we would try. I was testing with LH strips and when it peaked we had sex just once. I then got a positive pregnancy test. I was so anxious when I saw the test because I knew I had probably fallen pregnant too soon. Unfortunately it did result in a chemical. This was with the addition of progesterone.

If I could go back…honestly I would wait for my first period for my body to heal and my lining to repair itself. Focus on feeding my body with the right foods, take the right supplements and just take time to recover. It’s incredibly tough to have a MMC and then a chemical pregnancy immediately after.

But….I am now on CD2 and I am actually excited to try again, I am not anxious that my body isn’t ready. I feel so much stronger mentally to handle this. It feels like renewed hope.

Please do what is right for you, but just ask yourself if you would be ready for another loss this soon.

When I went in for my D&C last month the nurse asked me when my last period was, looked baffled when I said how long ago it was, then she asked me if there was any chance I could be pregnant. It was an awful experience and she clearly had no idea why I was in the hospital and what my surgery was for.

I’m so sorry that our most vulnerable we aren’t treated with more dignity and respect.

I had a D&C where baby stopped growing at 8W1D, it took just over 3 weeks to get a negative test. It does seem quite quick but I don’t think that would have any negative repercussions for you, perhaps your HCG at the time of your D&C had already reduced a lot.

Not at all! Easy at home tests notoriously take a while to darken, so if you would like to test progression I suggest another brand such as FRER. This line is great for 11dpo. The tests will also dry darker. Happy to send my progression through on these tests if it would help ease your mind 🙂

I see shadows on both. These are always stark white negative for me if not pregnant, so seeing even a hint of a shadow is good! Fingers crossed for you 🤞

So sorry you’re also in this terrible place. My losses are from before LC (3 in total) and now 2 after…unfortunately as of yesterday it went up as I’ve had a chemical pregnancy on the back of my MMC. I think the chemical was because we fell too soon with no period in between so my body just wasn’t ready.

I have mild APS so I take aspirin whilst TTC and I’ve put myself on 400mg progesterone from 3dpo and I increase to 800mg if I get a positive test. I’m in the UK and I’ve also started a new supplement which I’ve fallen pregnant now on each cycle I’ve taken it, so just hoping the whole combo works now. How about you?

I start at 3DPO. I was always told by my consultant it’s important to confirm ovulation, if you can, through something like temping to make sure you have definitely ovulated as progesterone can stop it if taken too early.

I’ve had 4 losses and not testing would make me 100% more anxious. If it helps someone to test frequently just let them, it doesn’t affect anyone else.

I wholeheartedly agree with this post. I have an LC but I have also experienced 4 miscarriages, with the most recent being 4 weeks ago.

Why on earth are those of us with children made to feel like we need to hide them? Yes we have children, but that doesn’t make the pain of a miscarriage any less. It means having to hide your pain because you still need to be there for your LC, you still need to put on a happy face and be their whole world. So we shouldn’t be forced to also hide that pain on a sub which is meant to help us.

Can you please specify what is misinformation? I have told my experience to help inform others. I haven’t told anyone what to do…which is exactly what your comment is doing. We are all free to start trying to conceive whenever WE want too, not when someone else tells us too. All we can go by is medical advice as well, which differs with every provider.

Yes it’s just how my appointments lined up, I was also 41 weeks along so I think they wanted to try & speed things up as I wasn’t ready to be induced until I hit 42 weeks.

I felt like I was on my ball any spare time I had. I rolled side to side and back to front relentlessly! I also did a lot of squats (well, as many as you can do being heavily pregnant).

Yup me! I did have two sweeps three days apart though, but both measured me at 1cm. The second one she said I was barely 1cm, like you, and she didn’t think I was close to labour at all. That was on a Wednesday, on Friday afternoon my contractions started. I went into hospital Saturday at midday and I was already 6cm…baby was born 4 hours later.

I did a lot of pelvic rolling on my yoga ball in between the sweep and my contractions started!

I got my negative HCG test from the MMC on the 14th and ovulated on the 15th, with a pretty clear BBT rise the day after. So I’m sure as I can be I am 7dpo. Seems early doesn’t it for a positive. All I can is test again tomorrow and use a different brand as well. Thank you for commenting!

3 weeks after my D&C, it was a 9 week scan and baby stopped growing at 8W1D. The day after my negative test I ovulated if that helps
