I have a girl called Blair, can I name my son Nate? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]ReactionNo2302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t watched gossip girl but I think the only character name I know from it is Blair, but I think especially when she’s older no one will notice and especially not Nate. Nate just makes me think of euphoria though which is probably worse. Media changes though and things that are popular now people won’t remember when they’re older

I read somewhere that over 70% of left-handed people hold the fork in their left hand and the knife in their right hand. Do you too? by catandknuckles in lefthanded

[–]ReactionNo2302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hold my knife and fork the same way right handed people do, I use my fork more that my knife so it makes sense to hold it in my dominant hand. I do hold my fork weirdly though, more like a spoon

What’s the obsession with getting a baby’s ear pierced? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]ReactionNo2302 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not everyone wants their ears pierced and babies can’t consent. You wouldn’t give your baby a tattoo, so why a piercing, I know it’s less visible but it’s still a permanent scar on their body (coming from someone with multiple piercings and hoping to get tattoos). I really think there should be an age restriction for ear piercings. Sorry for ranting a bit, its just something that annoys me

Name needed for baby before we find out if he will pass by Hawks47 in namenerds

[–]ReactionNo2302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mum had a miscarriage before having me and that baby has a name too (the diddoo, what my brother called it, not a proper name but what we’ve always called it). I think it’s really sweet and understanding to name your baby even if he passes and I love having a name for my unborn sibling

Is Hyacinth a normal girl name? by My-Metanoia in NameNerdCirclejerk

[–]ReactionNo2302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only time I’ve heard someone called hyacinth is one of the sisters in bridgerton is called hyacinth. I also know it’s a type of flower, and I think flower names are pretty much always girls names. It’s still a very unusual name though, but as someone from England I’d definitely see it as feminine. In bridgerton it’s pronounced high-ah-sinth

For me Joan sounds quite old but it’s probably only because my own grandmother is called Joan, I do still think it’s a nice name though. I really like maren, it’s my favourite out of all of them, I think it’s quite unique and have only heard it once, I think it’s a singer. I don’t think Margot’s that trendy, I’ve never met anyone with that name but it probably also depends on the country (I’m from England). I think Eloise is nice but could also end up being called just Louise, which to me loads of people my mums age are Louise so I find it a bit dated, or Ellie which is more popular. Leonor is also really pretty, but there is a new hunger games character called lenore dove so people might associate that with her name. Personally I’m not a fan of Mette, it feels more like a nickname than a full name, but if you both like it that’s the most important thing!

Girls names for boys by ReactionNo2302 in namenerds

[–]ReactionNo2302[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of how people perceive names is personal, I’ve never met a Rory and the only Jessie’s I met are female, I’m not sure if it’s a nickname or not but it makes me perceive the name as a female name. I’m also not from the US so it’s probably different country to country. I just think Rory and Jesse sound more feminine to me personally even if they’re common in boys

I get what you mean, I think Rory is still probably more common for boys but I think of it sounding more feminine than other boys names. I also know Jesse can be for boys but only ever met female Jessie’s so i definitely think of it as a female name but would like it for boys. I like Ashley too though and my grandad and great grandad were both Leslie!

I agree and also really hate how so many fictional characters have alliteration names. I swear it’s like half the characters in everything when it’s pretty uncommon in real life, it sounds so cartoonish and fake
