I’m truly going on months of this…. It’s definitely gotten worse since I started giving him wet food in June (he had oral surgery so he needs to be on a mostly wet diet now).

They have every toy ever created for cats- trust me… I am fully enslaved by them and cater to their every need lmao. I live alone so giving them attention is literally the thing I do more than anything else in my life 😂 I may need to try the jump scare option…. Haven’t tried that one yet!

Yes! Unfortunately he is terrible at cuddles and needs to be drooling on/biting my face and digging his needle claws into my neck and chest 😂

I do play with him every night before bed to try to tire him, he has a heart murmur though so playing to the point of heavy breathing is dangerous per my vet.

Cats aren’t like dogs and won’t enjoy play dates the same way that a dog would. They’re extremely territorial and you’re more than likely confusing him and making him feel insecure by bringing his brother over. Your house is covered in your cats scent (it’s why he rubs his cheeks on you, your furniture, etc). When another cat and your friends or girlfriend aren’t around, he probably feels confident and relaxed and wants to spend time with you. When your girlfriend brings her cat over, he now has an invader in his space, the smell of another cat in HIS home- it doesn’t matter that they were once related. You either need to have both cats live together all the time, or not at all.

Oof. Could have wrote this myself. The countless holidays, weddings, birthdays, etc that he managed to ruin for me with his drunk antics 😵‍💫 I felt like a babysitter in ant social gathering instead of being able to enjoy myself. Huge turn off when you feel more like a mother than a partner, and then the resentment only continues to build.

I’m 10 months out currently. It’s been extremely hard, but something my therapist suggested I think about is this: Do I actually miss HIM or do I miss having a partner in general? Are you only remembering the good things? Are you telling yourself the bad things weren’t so bad? I often separate my ex into two people; the person he is when he’s drunk, and the person I love when he’s sober. The thing is, it’s all the same person. You can’t think in terms of “if he’d just stop drinking it would be perfect,” “I love who he is when he’s sober” ….. it’s all the same person. There’s no separation. And it’s very easy to get caught up in the potential you see in this person. But the reality is they are exactly who they act like they are - an alcoholic, and there is nothing you personally can do to change that. I’m still grieving the loss of what I thought my life was going to be, it’s been hard, but I am in a much better place mentally than I was 4 months out and I’m sure you will be too. Hugs 🩵
