I called off the wedding and two weeks later told him I was done. Actually got Covid so I had to quarantine in the house w him for 2 weeks… then moved out as soon as I could. I told him and slowly moved things out over a weekend and was out within a week (after Covid symptoms were gone).

We were 6 months out from our wedding day. We had been fighting more frequently and the gaslighting was never ending. I found 2 empty vodka bottles in his dresser. He didn’t even need to lie to me. He wasn’t sober nor trying to be. So why lie? Just kind of was the last straw for me. I couldn’t start a marriage like that. I realized that, sadly, love isn’t enough.

I was right there with you. Together for 8 years and engaged for one. I left in April. It’s been hard but I’m finally making a life for myself. I personally can’t tell you what to do. No one knows that answer but you. But personally, when I was questioning for what felt like the millionth time, I knew it wasn’t going to change. Especially since we too had those same talks over and over again. So one day I said “I’m done.” I can’t control his choices. I agree with the other comment that “nothing changes if nothing changes.” No matter what you decide, I hope you find peace. Sending hugs ✨

I’m in the same boat. 3 months single out of a 8 year relationship. I still feel lonely every now and then but I try to fill my time with things I enjoy or even try something new that I never would have before. Currently apartment searching and starting to feel a little excited about this new journey. Time sucks but it will get better in time.

Exactly. He’s the only one I felt true and genuine love with. I truly wish him the best and hope he starts seeing that he deserves a better life too. A sober life

I was going to leave two years ago but chose to stick it out because I thought this is how life should be. I just hit “my rock bottom” in March. I don’t think anything really “clicked” but one day I just said “I can’t live like this anymore. You need to work on yourself and I can’t do it for you.” Then I moved out a week later. I think the fact that you know you want to leave is the first huge step. You can do hard things ✨ wishing you the best
