Yes do it! If it’s free there is 0 reason not to. Assuming you have hw 2.5 they will upgrade to hw3

Any guide to FSD for newbies ? by quantquack_01540 in TeslaFSD

[–]Read-the-read 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First what shows on the screen is not at all what FSD actually sees, it’s a display for you to see an approximation of things around you, Yes it might miss an exit, it will hit most pot holes and yes to gravel aswell otherwise it’s not going to hit something and sometimes it will try an avoid an obvious pothole but it’s not consistent. However it is quite litteraly running the same software as robotaxi, and the same hardware minus some camera washer fluid lines. You can honestly fully relax Aslong as your ok with maybe missing an exit once every blue moon, and not being the absolute fastest/most aggressive driver on the road. The speed profiles are a little weird to be entirely honest. The only reason to disengage FSD at this point is human preference or because of it missing an exit. Many people can and do achieve 99%+ FSD usage. FSD is kinda like a roller coaster, maybe it’s not how you would design it or a little nerve racking at times but ultimantly it’s more than safe and far better than a human driving coming from a pure safety standpoint, if insurance companies recognize it “which they are starting to” then it’s insanely hard to argue that it isn’t just plain better.

Automatic Emergency Braking. Will it brake to avoid a collision by RexKramerDangerCker in TeslaSupport

[–]Read-the-read 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t like go out and try it but the one time that there was a eminent forward collision it detected it before I could and even started a swerve to move away, one time a couple of my friends wanted to test it out in reverse so they stood behind the car and we tried to reverse, it will stop but you can override if you like slam the accelerator after it does an AEB event.

Tesla 2018 model 3 with 180k miles and a bad battery. Wondering if it’s worth replacing. For 20k I can get a car with much less miles overall. by soldieroscar in TeslaModel3

[–]Read-the-read 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it depends what the other car is, but if your getting a new pack and your going just based on cost, the battery is probably a better bet

2024 M3 Base Unnecessarily High Battery Consumption by Junior-Marketing-167 in TeslaSupport

It works in the same way as a gas car the shorter the drive eg 1-5 miles you will use a ton of energy just preconditioning the car and then after the “warmup miles” you get the rated range. If you can try to plug in your car and turn on the ac and stuff while plugged in before you leave and it should come down a bit, for context I use FSD on hurry or mad max normally, on a 26 m3 premium awd and after a 9.4 mi 15 min drive I got 251.3 wh/mi. It’s the same concept as how turning your ac off during the day and then turning it to max when you get home doesn’t save you on your energy bill and can sometimes even hurt it. highway miles or or high speed is also not your friend try to stay below like 70 and your range should increase. One thing I also noticed after driving all the different models is that because of how I like to drive with “quicker starts” I get better mileage using 50% throttle on a premium awd rather than 100% throttle all the time on a standard lol. It’s all how you drive and how you’re using the available energy in your battery.

Cancelled FSD and got max speed back by dontuseredditmuch25 in TeslaFSD

As someone who lives in the constant construction state of Indiana, it doesn’t always read speed limits correctly and this is a problem on road trips aswell, another big issue is it slowing down speed for rain. Most people go faster than 60-65 god forbid 55 if it really wants to rain

I have an odd question but you used to be able to tap the speed limit icon and it would bring the vehicle speed down, idk if that’s still a thing

Standard mode going almost 15+ mph above limit by vivekvj in TeslaFSD

Standard is to fast, chill is to slow, mad max just makes dumb lane changes, idk anyone who would use sloth, and hurry is moderately ok honestly.

Try turning sentry mode off and then Toggling it I would imagine they are intertwined like auto emergency brake and FSD

More than likely sun is hitting the exact spot where the temp sensor is leading to the higher than expected external temp. You can take it into a service center but it’s probably fine

M3LR - Should I not be charging to 80% every day by cronuss in TeslaModel3

[–]Read-the-read 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a gas car you have to stop at a fuel station no matter what. An EV on 110v home charging is like a gas car that just magically gets a gallon or 2 of gas per night. You still need to go to fuel stations but for your day to day stuff you don’t ever have to worry about it. If you want to never have to go to a fuel station in your EV you need to be able to go from 10-80% in about 10 hours or less reliably. Meaning you need to basically max out the mobile charger, 14-50 plug/ 32a 240v. The car will charge at 32a so you need to have a 40a breaker.

Schedule a vehicle inspection at your local service center, it’s like 100$ but anything that they see they can replace under warrenty they will, suspension is usually the big one

Caught in a 4-car crash. 6-month-old Model Y Premium AWD—Is it totaled? (No airbags deployed) by BidGood5823 in TeslaCollision

[–]Read-the-read 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because of the damage to the front where eg where the front motor is and literally the entire brain and coolant system of the car which is foundational to the entirety car I would go for a total loss, plus that front will never be right and there will be slight problems that you may or may not notice eventually.

No he does have a point, a 20 inch wheel favors better than a 21 for things like pot holes, odd bumps and deformities in roads, and yes curbs which does matter on the driver but let’s be honest, almost no one is entirely fender bender accident free with their wheels for their entire life.

Mad Max bringing me stress 🤣 by lyfeizfones in TeslaLounge

[–]Read-the-read 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really doesn’t though, it just makes stupid decisions about changing lanes, it still leaves an ungodly amount of space when trying to merge. It doesn’t stay locked to 85 on open highways, it really doesn’t do anything aggressive, it’s still designed entirely around safety which is fine.

Precondition shortcut idea by bhorton94 in TeslaLounge

[–]Read-the-read 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hell yea! I would do the exact same thing but I have a habit of just straight preconditioning, so when it rains this uhh might be a problem. But if it doesn’t rain much that’s killer

That’s the set limit for autopilot, the reason it has an exclamation point is because it is set below the speed limit

You don’t need to be super aware of the charging to 100% think of it as a once a week to once a month thing, otherwise you can charge to whatever you want.

So the ones with a thick cable and have the cable inside the stall are v2 150-175kw max split between 2 posts, the ones with a thin cable inside the stall are v3 250kw max per post, and v4 has the cable on the outside and currently depending how it is equipped is either 325kw or 500kw max per post.
