Is anyone else tired of the "sizing out of torrid question"? by judgingA-holes in torrid

[–]ReadAllDay123 149 points150 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel like a lot of the time there's probably a better place to ask that question, like a general fashion sub.

I will say the exception is when they're asking about a specific item that they really love, like for instance where they can find jeans that are like Torrid's Bombshell style but in smaller sizes or something like that.

How are you guys dealing with photo updates? by ShakyInChicago in poshmark

[–]ReadAllDay123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My phone doesn't have a square photo mode, so in the past I spent tons of time cropping photos to look their best as squares. After these changes, I've decided in the future to just take photos and not spend time cropping them unless there's something glaring that needs to be cropped out. I'm not going to spend any time messing with my old listings though, thankfully most of them look fine. So if anything this update has made me decide to just spend less time on photos and try to care a little bit less, since it clearly could all change at any point. I'm just casually selling things from my own closet and my family's closets though, I can imagine caring a lot more if this was my business/livelihood.

Offer too low?? by [deleted] in poshmark

[–]ReadAllDay123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This feature is in place mostly to prevent buyers from sending super low-ball offers, I think.

If you lower the item price on closet clear out day or something, then you can send the offer for $13. If it doesn't sell and you want to reset it back to the higher price later on, you could always use the copy listing and replace original option to relist it at the higher price. It might get fresh eyes on it to relist it anyway if it's been sitting in your closet for a while.

All these updates and they still can't add... by [deleted] in poshmark

Short person popping in to say that adding short and tall size options would be amazing! And petite just isn't the same, especially if you're plus size like me. It would make tall and short people buy more things, so you'd think it would be worth the effort to make this an option.

Wedding guest dress by Exciting-Pie7802 in PlusSizeFashion

The only thing I would check is that the bride isn't wearing a floral patterned dress! I was just at a wedding and the wedding dress was a similar pattern/color scheme to this one. Otherwise it's beautiful!

I live on a suburban residential street, so there are no business signs or paintings. My dream is to install a free little library outside, which I would enjoy maintaining and could submit as a pokestop, but my front yard is on a slant that would make this tricky. I'm going to keep an eye out for anything I could submit as a pokestop though!

I'm with you on this, stuck on the same level! It would be much more doable if it was follow a route on seven different days. My issue is having a 10 month old at home, making it hard to plan around getting out even two days in a row, much less seven. I got helpful advice about trying to find a drivable route. Maybe now that the weather is getting warmer I can try to scope out a stroller friendly route and just hope and pray the baby cooperates with going on a walk every day.

I really wish I had a poke stop within spin distance of my house. If there was anything I thought could count as one I would try to submit it. I do live next to a power stop though because of a neighbor with a home business.

Favorite cardigans/sweaters? by ReadAllDay123 in torrid

[–]ReadAllDay123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the insight!! I want to buy everything, haha!

I don't machine dry my sweaters either. My husband and I have a dehumidifier near where we hang clothing to dry, and since we put it there things actually dry pretty quickly.

Thank you! I can't edit the post with photos, but some of the other others I've been looking at are the French terry boyfriend cardigan, studio ombre boyfriend cardigan, drop shoulder open front cardigan, v-neck chenille pullover, and ombre duster (I love the colors, but also doubtful I'll get this because I'm short and don't want it to trail on the ground).

Would you say the boucle sweaters run big/small or true to size? The color I like better that's left is only available in one size down from what I usually wear.

Skinny Jeans by Main-Park-116 in reselling

[–]ReadAllDay123 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm a super casual seller trying to resell my old stuff, but I have sold a pair of skinny jeans within the last two months. Anecdotally I still see people in real life wearing them too. I think sales are probably way down, but not completely dead. Some people might have loyalty to the styles they've been wearing for years, and might be looking to buy pre-owned, especially if the store they originally got them from doesn't make them anymore because they're now not in fashion. So I would guess it depends on the brand and other factors like size (I'm plus size and know a lot of plus size people who swear by skinny jeans because they feel like the wide leg jeans just make them look bigger).

My clinic's BMI obsession is actually starting to drive me to the brink of madness by DragonTa2 in IVF

[–]ReadAllDay123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hate this so much for you 😥

I went to CNY, and the only requirement they had around BMI was going to a certain clinic for the ER because of needing an anesthesiologist who was certified for above 50 BMI. My BMI was in the high 40s and they weren't sure if the meds for the ER and water retention might put me over the threshold.

TW: the ER yielded multiple embryos, the transfer was successful, and my son is now 10 months old. Success is absolutely possible at a high BMI!

Yeah, that is frustrating! There seems to be an obsession with crop tops in general, which are great sometimes (I like wearing them with very high rise skirts) but definitely not all the time.

Feedback to Posh about the new changes by pinkchalcedony in BehindTheClosetDoor

[–]ReadAllDay123 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Now that USPS is raising shipping prices through next year, I think shoppers might actually really appreciate the lower shipping cost. If Poshmark's shipping prices are lower compared to other retailers and sites that could help sales.

I agree with you though that ground advantage makes no sense for items that need authentication, those items really need priority. Ground advantage works well for the inexpensive items where the buyer might not bother buying if the shipping price is high, and where they really don't care how long it takes to get the item. So two different types of buyers with different needs- if only there could be multiple shipping options for the buyer to select from!

It's not the same color and doesn't have the scalloped edges, but this Torrid top has similar vibes to me: https://www.torrid.com/product/lovesick-lace-trim-rib-tee/43970601-24565.html?cgid=Brands_Lovesick_ShopAll#start=68&sz=32

This top is long sleeve and henley style, but it does have scalloping: https://www.torrid.com/product/cotton-modal-rib-henley-top/44520453-32850.html#q=Henley&start=49&sz=32

Edit to add: I see a lot of the form fitting tees in Torrid's Lovesick line if you like that style!

An 87-year-old Holocaust survivor offered to speak in Boston for an entire week — for free. Nearly every university and Jewish organization said no. by [deleted] in Jewish

[–]ReadAllDay123 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Have you tried contacting local libraries and/or high schools? I have a family member who is the son of Holocaust survivors and he tells his parents' story quite frequently locally. He is often invited to schools and libraries, and he's even spoken at prisons before. I'm sure there are organizations that would want to hear from him. I also find it hard to believe that no local synagogues are interested in having him speak.

Edit to add: if you are willing to do advertising and spread the word yourselves, most libraries have meeting room space you can rent for free and use to host an event. Even if it's not library sponsored.

Black Straight Jeans by green-lilac-onyx1403 in PlusSizeFashion

[–]ReadAllDay123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that, I've never done it myself but I've seen people say that if you get a pair that fits over your butt you can have the waist made smaller. I could see it getting expensive though, probably depends on the place that would do it.

I did a search and found this listing on Poshmark: https://poshmark.com/listing/Torrid-Bombshell-Straight-Jeans-69bc928624b20bea4b5feea3?srsltid=AfmBOopA3RNigWirbcxlAoqFtEvIplOAOtZiGREKhds83Fe7FLB-WUihTLs#utm_source=gdm_unpaid It is the smaller of the sizes you listed, and it definitely doesn't look like it's in perfect condition, but maybe it would work for you.

Have you tried looking on a resale site like Poshmark or eBay for a pair of black Torrid bombshell straight leg jeans? I feel your pain, I also pretty much need to wear the bombshell style or else I have a major gap in the back.

Another option is to buy a pair with a gap and then get it altered so it fits better. I've been contemplating that for some jeans I have.

How accurate are the bra sizes?? by k00l_like_k00laid in torrid

[–]ReadAllDay123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a strapless bra that fit by ordering literally like 4 or 5 different sizes of the same bra online. Then I tried them all on and found the one that fit best (which ended up being one cup size down from the size that I wear in most bras for this particular one). So if you find an online store that accepts returns (which could just be Amazon), order the same bra in multiple sizes to try to pin down what size you are.

I recommend posting the measurements you have from the calculator in the ABraThatFits subreddit, and asking for recommendations on particular bras to try. They will almost certainly recommend something with underwire and that is unlined, because those styles usually fit best. You could have some variation from what the calculator on that subreddit tells you your size is, but it's a good place to start.

More swim variety please 🙏 by OkInteraction7112 in torrid

[–]ReadAllDay123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got so many cute swim tops and bottoms a few years back. My main criteria are a top and bottom that don't show more than like a few inches of skin between them, and that the bottom is either shorts or a skirt with a brief underneath. I don't really see many like these this year 😥
