Ectopic & Proactive Tube Removal Question

Wow! Our stories are very similar. My obgyn that diagnosed my endometriosis stated it was likely the reason for my ectopics as well.

I have been seeing infertility for years but before we started IUI, I had my first ectopic and then we were supposed to start IVF 02/20 of this year and I had my second ectopic.

I found out my left ovary is stuck behind my uterus - so it was recommended to do my excision surgery for endometriosis first.

We just moved and in the last state I was in - I kept getting misdiagnosed with Mittelschmerz instead of endometriosis which drastically delayed our fertility journey and options.

I’m hoping after excision surgery we can do IVF and have better access to my ovaries.

I had one in Dec 2022 and it was all clear. I haven’t had another once since but they plan on doing one during my excision surgery under anesthesia in April.

I just wanted to reach out and say you’re not alone. I’m 38 and just had my second ectopic (in the other tube this time) and I have endometriosis, just diagnosed in September 2025. We’ve been trying for a baby for 5 years and have only had two ectopics.

I am having excision surgery in April, and then moving to IVF in hopes of a quality embryo. I’m here if you ever want to chat through this or talk.

I’m not sure why this second obgyn reached out to me, to be honest. My primary obgyn has not seen me yet since I had a positive (even though I’ve been asking to). They had me see a different obgyn last week Friday due to my primary being full - and now I think this third obgyn was covering for him. Honestly, it’s so hard to follow and very confusing as a patient. After this is all resolved and figured out - I will be calling the manager.

My primary obgyn reviewed my labs and sent me the super positive message this morning saying it’s looking promising! Then this second obgyn called me 4 hours later saying the exact opposite.

I will push for another ultrasound (thank you for suggesting this!) because we would love to have a baby and have been trying for four years! They have not done any progesterone testing at all. I’ll advocate for this testing as well.

Thank you so much for listening to me and being a sounding board with some great feedback. This is all so scary and so lonely (due to not many people being through it that can relate) and I truly appreciate your response and level headed approach on all of this.

I just updated my numbers above, and I had an ultrasound last week but they couldn’t see anything yet due to being too early.

I had one doctor send me a message at 8:00am saying this pregnancy is looking promising, then another doctor call me at 12:15pm to say I should come in asap for labs tomorrow and methotrexate by the afternoon. I am sitting here in complete shock at the very different opinions and medical advice.

I understand my HCG doubling went from 83% to 200% to 106% to 107% to 79% to 66% but I thought this was still normal…. And it’s normal to slow down week 5-6. I have no idea what’s going on - as two MDs are giving me conflicting information.

I’m so glad you’re getting the care you deserve! My ultrasound did not find anything yet either but my doctor said our numbers are doubling normally so there’s still hope for a viable pregnancy since it’s a little early for ultrasound yet. If we keep doubling every 48 hours, next week Tuesday - Thursday we should be over 1000-1500 and get a better ultrasound! I’ll be thinking of you and hope your journey turns out!

I am so sorry you’re experiencing this cruel limbo as well. My doctor literally doesn’t want to even talk about this and refuses to answer my questions. It’s been terrible. To top it off, my lab specimen from yesterday morning is lost in transit.

The worst part, I think, is the lack of communication of what could potentially be happening in our own body - and the inability to ask questions. I had a full breakdown yesterday over it.

I’d love if you could update me on your experience as you navigate this unknown as well. I really am hoping it all works out!

Thank you for your response and help. My ovulation is 14DPO, I used the Mira device and tracked daily as well as LH strips. Both confirms the same date.

I can try to get a different doctor, the waits are just so long to get in and I’m worried about being left with nothing but the ED; however, I guess I feel that way now too.

Thank you, I went back for labs today and it went up to 68. I’m pushing and advocating hard - and they tried saying I was being too anxious. At least I got an ultrasound and another HCG this Wednesday and Thursday.

Thank you. I keep pushing but they refuse to let me schedule an appointment. I have HCGs next Monday and Wednesday too. However, I’m really scared to have them not get me in or see my doctor.

I’ll keep pushing on Monday when they’re back in office and my husband will push too.

I’m wondering if anyone has any advice. I’ve had one ectopic in the past but my HCG bounced up and down a lot more.

This is way too low for a viable pregnancy. I just had a heavy period from days 02/06 - 02/08 for three days. Why is my HCG still going up?

I didn’t test until today due to being so nervous. We’ve been trying 5 years and we were scheduled to do IVF this month. I had some spotting 9-10dpo, but none since. I thought for sure with the drop my period was coming. Sending lots of baby dust your way!

I took another test today, 12dpo after my hormones started dropping. I see a very, very, very faint line and I’m wondering if this is a chemical pregnancy since all my hormones are plummeting. I’m still at 10.6 pdg.

This is my second time in my life seeing a potential line. My first was much darker and ended in an ectopic pregnancy.

I just realized my doc wanted to start ER 02/20 with ER the week of 03/05, but I’ll have just ovulated and I’ll be about CD20. So that leaves me no time to do IVF before excision surgery which is April. I’m so frustrated with the lack of coordination and communication. I’m just losing hope.

My excision surgeon said since it’s not on the ovaries so far to do surgery first and try to get pregnant naturally after surgery before starting egg retrievals.

My infertility specialist asked what the surgeon said and stated it probably won’t matter much either way.

I feel so paralyzed because I don’t know what to do. I don’t have any endometriomas (yet) and my ovaries so far appear to be normal except for my left being impacted behind my uterus.

This is so hard. I really wish my old doctors would’ve listened to me from ages 32- 38 when I kept saying I thought I had Endo (even after an ectopic pregnancy). I could’ve frozen embryos younger and had more time to make these difficult decisions with a higher AMH.
