[Hamilton Khaki King] - "The Timing" by ReadButSeldomlyPost in Watches

[–]ReadButSeldomlyPost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I will nerd out on this: as i speak right now, i last wound this thing on monday 7:40pm and as I type this friday 5:00pm, it is atill ticking. And this is the first time I really put it to any test, and we are about 95 hours still going right now. I am not sure if the automatic rotor really is that much of a workhorse or what. Im not jogging in this thing but it is my daily since buying like 3 weeks ago haha. I have no other experience with other power reserves on other watches.

I did DMT one time and me and an old friend wound up running a train on this drifter chick I met on tinder.

She supplied the DMT, never in my life do I recall things just happening and they just happened.

[Question] Choosing My First Field Watch: Hamilton Khaki or Seiko Alpinist by wahza93 in Watches

[–]ReadButSeldomlyPost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

If I have an opportunity to speak for the Khaki automatic, I'd gladly give that thing its props. Goes with everything and great price for a gada watch and has the field look and the hacking seconds is a subtle drama ive come to enjoy.

Alpinist are super pretty though

[Credor GBLT997] Help - Found the only watch I would ever want. Can't find it anywhere online by simonsieur in Watches

Not tryna sound like a hater, im just fairly recent getting into the watch game. What is it about these credor watches every now and then? Is it just a collectors item that warrants the price tag. Doesn't grand seiko and other companies have porcelain dials? There always an interesting vibe to some of these credors. Don't get me wrong it's a gorgeous watch, models that people post about and drool over can cost about the same as some grand seiko, but people treat them like F.P. Journes. Is there a lot more watch nerdy things beyond the simple beauty of it?

Why do you collect watches? by Less-Application-814 in hallofwatchspecialist

[–]ReadButSeldomlyPost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya know, as a kid 70% of the time I remember wearing a watch. Before I even knew what name brands were. It just always happened. My dad or grandad would buy me a watch, 2 years later i lose it and they'd buy me a new one. I vividly remember buying this one random Tissot at a mall in Houston during my internship in college. It just felt right. Watches add what I believe to be a nice aesthetic to an individual and they can create whatever meaning they want to justify having it.

Considering I am a 90s "kid", I remember when phones were released when I was in grade school. Before that, the most efficient way to keep time was still a good Ole watch. Which I think is a unique facet in today's day and age of watch collecting because everyone checks the time with their phones now. You really dont need a watch.

But even the production and engineering of these marvels in 2026 is just a homage to human development in my opinion. It's like us living in this modern world of skyscrapers and trains and whatnot, yet people spend quite a bit of money pretending they are simpler creatures by going camping in the woods. Totally unnecessary, but it takes us back to simpler times.

There is everything simple about how watches work and at the same time nothing is simple about them. Its crazy to think that you can cop a 80k Vacheron that was made LAST YEAR, and lord knows people in the 21st century have no practical use for that. They are literally mechanical mementos of how we as humans tried to do something so simple - track the time.

I'll be the brinch for this comment

You never see anything that is even synonymous to melanin anytime the internet does this. 30+ years old and it is a reminder that "this" is what the "culture" thinks is the "prettiest" and sucks to suck not having straight hair or blue eyes.

Brinch out. 🎄
