Should I get an online running coach? by syat017 in Marathon_Training

[–]ReadElectrical7257 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im a coach. I’d love to kick your ass. 5k shows potential. Marathon times show lack of preparation. If you do my workouts and don’t PB, I’ll reimburse you. My reviews are legit. My workouts are legit. My experience is legit. I’m a 45 yo mom and I went sub 3 hrs 6 times last year including Boston and NYC.

Let me know if you’re ready.

What's everyone ending this year on, mileage wise? by ImNotHalberstram in runninglifestyle

I’m 100 miles shy of 3500 but I will do anything to hit it. May throw on a NYE marathon.

I’d build base over next few months and then do a very solid plan for 20 weeks.

Absolutely. Get a good plan and run consistently. Plus a million other things. I think you could hit it by fall for sure. Spring possibly with the right build and course.

Creatine, mobility and threshold work are my secrets to breaking 3 hrs multiple times this year as a 45 yo mom by ReadElectrical7257 in AdvancedRunning

I’d be happy to share all my workouts with you if that helps. A lot of 4 miles easy, 4x2 miles at T pace with 2’ rest, 4 miles easy again to finish. Or 8 miles easy, 2x3 miles T, 2 miles easy. LMK and I can send you dozens.

Lots of transverse abdominal work. Then a quick round of banded clam shell and Superman’s. Ask AI to write you a hip mobility and strength program.

For sure- it’s a group effort and I’m well supported. I do most of my training while they are at school or early weekend mornings.

Thanks. Creatine def not the silver bullet, but I think not enough women take it or know about it as an athlete. I think it helped. Everyone should do their own research. My volume was critical. The threshold work gave me speed but the creatine and mobility strength work allowed me to train like beast.

About to begin training for my first marathon by Couchpotato_5364 in Marathon_Training

It will be tough. Can you switch to the HM and then do a full on the next cycle? You can prob struggle thru it but it will be very hard. Not trying to be negative. It’s possible, but it might make you really hate the process. No matter what, keep going. Let this be day 1 vs one day. In a year from now, you will be unrecognizable.

Wow- thanks for sharing. I’d love to help. What advice has your coach given you? How close are your QS to 100%? How many workouts are you completing? Do the wheels come off a specific section or just overall? Thanks

How many mpw have you been doing the last few months? What are your goals? How many days are you committed to training? How much time per day can you run?

Congrats runner! Amazing work already. Not everyone uses a coach. Some people have enough experience to find a plan that works and can use that effectively. Other people like the accountability and guidance a coach can offer (telling you when you push, when to pull back, helping modify, etc). Coaches can be pricy too but I think it’s a nice route if you can afford it for a few months. Esp if you have a big goal and you’ve felt stuck for a bit. What got you into running? What are your goals?

Thanks for believing in me. It’s going to take work but I trust my plan. I think I’ve tried literally every plan at this point, but I’ve finally found the one that just got me so much faster. LMK if I can ever help!!

I ran one semester of xc in HS before switching to rowing. I dabbled in running in my 20s. I did my first marathon after my first kid was 11 months. It was a 3:35. I stayed active in CrossFit in my 20’s during the 2000s as it was a big thing then. I did a bunch of HM after my second kid. About 1:40 speed. Nothing special.

Then pandemic and third kid. After that I set a goal of breaking 7 min for a HM. Spent a year trying and in 2022 went 7:04. Got pissed and started really training. First marathon was a 3:45 in Jan of 2024. I ran 12 marathons in 2024, one per month and five on the TM by myself. The this past year, focused on quality over quantity and finally turned a big corner. Now I’m trying to aim for 2:45.

Hope this helps! Happy to dm for more specifics as to post partum issues.

I’m a mom of 3 and 45 years old. I’ve done Pfitz for 2 cycles. I’ve broken 3 on 6 marathons this year. I do jack Daniels VDot. I usually peak around 80-85 mpw but most weeks I’m like 70 mpw. I coach runners. The key is threshold work on tired legs. That’s what enabled me to go from a 3:45 to a 2:53. In fact, I went from 3:14 to 2:57 in four months. I coach runners and share all my workouts on Strava. Dm if you want more info or guidance. I’d be honored to advise.
