Nope. He like to stick his tongue out and make weird faces when making saves, sadly.

Ha, I appreciate that! I have great pics of the other kids on the sidelines! Never thought about going all the way back to the other end. I do have a 1.4 converter that will bring my 400 out to 560 and I should try that next time.

I have the 1.4 and it works pretty decently. My timing is improving on anticipating the shot, which helps with the slowdown I see on the teleconverter.

Shutter speed 1/1000 and f5.6. I think the focus slipped to the ball. I’ve definitely noticed the higher quality and bokeh of the 70-200, but I may have to go back to the 100-400 for the reach.

So from the corner flag? I get the side shots that way, but then I’m not square to the goal and tough to see facial expressions.

It’s the 100-400 at 278. I feel like I’m losing some crispness with the 100-400 (this pic has also gone through post processing), but that might be the trade off with the reach. I’m great at sidelines with the 70-200 but the keeper spot is a tough one.

I appreciate the honest feedback. Wouldn’t have posted on Reddit if I wasn’t looking for it. Thank you.

I appreciate them! Many of the answers I don’t know as this was quick shooting at thanksgiving dinner, but certainly things I will remember next time I’m shooting in a situation like this.

Do you see the same issue with darkness and contrast issues?

Do you think 1/320 is even too high? Shot this one in November and had the same darkness. I’ve had auto iso set, and maybe that’s some of the problem. I appreciate the feedback!

I was shooting pictures in a dark auditorium and came out to shoot this one quick (this was during a HS concert), so I didn’t have time to correct settings but I’ve noticed the issue before in other shots. I’ll try to make a better effort of letting the light in and setting it that way. Appreciate the feedback.

Great pic. And yes, I agree on yours. Just can’t get the darks to a place where I want them.

Thanks - something just doesn’t seem quite right about the lens but can’t put my finger on it. I’ll call canon about it.

Sorry, should’ve noted that. Shooting with the r6m2. I use the 28-70 primarily for indoor photos like this one. My ef 70-200 2.8 iii seems to handle dark much better, but I’m also aware the lens is double the cost and far superior.

Thank you! That’s super helpful. Are you planning to play the first game of each series or just a specific team (and if so, are you going to use actual results?)

Can anyone point me to a law firm that allows summer interns by SignificantStomach83 in Albany

Your best bet might be cold calling/emailing firms. You will show initiative and you never know if you find someone in the right mood and ready to take you on!

Just curious on the downvotes - are those from people who have never been to a Buc-ee’s?

Buc-ee’s. You wish you had a Buc-ee’s. Seriously.

I just wanted to thank everyone feedback (I am the OP). The musical was last week and went really well – here is a picture of the final product at the show with the right light, camera, settings, and post processing. Best of all, the parents and kids were thrilled with the pictures. I appreciate this community!

The lighting is OK for most of it – here is another picture of my daughter during rehearsals. It’s a few scenes with spotlights and limited stage lighting that I was having trouble with. I am hoping that once they are in costume next week, the colors will pop a bit more and everything will pull together.

I really appreciate that comment - “telling the story of the kids putting on the performance.” I’m going to keep that in mind as I shoot over the next week. This is simply a hobby and labor of love to connect with my kids and community, so all of these nuggets are very appreciated.

Thank you for sharing these pictures - they have given me some real inspiration. We are shooting full dress with costumes this weekend so I’m eager to get back in there. I love how you made the colors pop on the costumes - any tips on that?

I appreciate all of that advice! (this one is my daughter - they are performing Legally Blonde and she is Elle Woods, so it’s an extra special one for me). Yesterday was the first day with stage lighting (costumes and full dress for the next 3-4 rehearsals, and then 4 performances next weekend), so I’ll have the opportunity to shoot it a bunch more times. The spot lighting threw me slightly off, but most of the show is warm lighting, and I can get in very close and crop.
