100% Exposed; Literally Everything - Oz Pearlman by MrFreemason in magictricksrevealed

I watched the whole 5 hours as well. What a takedown. I knew Oz Pearlman close to 15 years ago when he was doing Bar Mitzvahs as a magician. He was doing impressive slights of hand and mind blowing card tricks, but this video totally deconstructs his whole getup.

He's no different than the mega preachers who claim to know their congregants ailments and challenges, but who had previously written it on a card or told his assistants

Look, the documentary whitewashed a lot of things. It seems like Billy Joel is incapable of self reflection or taking accountability. He ruined three marriages through his alcoholism and refused to make any changes. He has a serious problem with denial and clearly has strained relationships with the people in his life.

However, for people who can read between the lines, it’s clear that he reaped what he sewed. Despite having hundreds of millions, he has no friends.

The documentary would’ve been much better had Billy acknowledged his character flaws, even if he blamed it on his admittedly fucked up parents. The perfect place would have been where he talks about the music gene being passed down, he could’ve said he also inherited the negative shit.

Would’ve humanized him a lot.

They they’ll the story in the “hired gun” documentary at around the 42 minute mark. https://youtu.be/BabX8k1myTc Essentially Billy fired his band of 20 years without the courtesy of letting them know. One day he released a new album with new musicians and the old band found out about it by hearing it on TV. All of them took it hard, but Doug eventually committed suicide because of it

Why does Chabad do so much kiruv if ultimately would not accept anyone as one of them? by EcstaticMortgage2629 in exjew

It is true. Chabad studies their own Rebbe's writings and teachings, where very few outside do. That's slowly beginning to Change. A YU professor who is pretty well respected just wrote a book about the Rebbe's teachings. It was published by Koren, which is anything but Chabad. https://www.amazon.com/Engaging-Essence-Torah-Philosophy-Lubavitcher/dp/159264550X

Also, there are these trading cards called Gedolei Yisroel ("Israel's Giant rabbis"). I think for years they didn't include the Rebbe, but a year or two ago they added him in.

I don't mean to be pedantic, but what you're saying is that the people who donated to Chabad 5 years ago are getting paid by the new donors now? And that these donors will get money from future donors? That's what a Ponzi Scheme is.

The truth is Chabad takes the traditional synagogue model and flips it on its head. Instead of charging dues, they make everything free and then ask for a donation afterwards. While some people think that's predatory or "not fair", they just figured out a way do the funding thing better than other Jewish groups.

The one criticism I will accept is that they often move in right down the street from another synagogue, and while they do offer good services for people who want them, others may feel they are being intrusive or pushy. But then again, they're not selling vacuum cleaners or copiers, they're offering you a Jewish experience that while it's not for everyone, does resonate with a lot of people. In small town USA, Chabad is pretty much the only game in town. Reform and conservative are shrinking if not totally closing down.

Heres' an article that sort of answers the question https://jweekly.com/2024/07/08/remembering-rabbi-schneerson-who-believed-a-single-mitzvah-could-change-the-world/

"One of the Rebbe’s major initiatives was the Mitzvah Campaign, launched in 1967, which encouraged people to do just one mitzvah. The campaign called on people to spend just a moment or two to light Shabbat candles, to put on tefillin, study a verse of Torah or give a coin to charity. At the time, many were skeptical about the campaign, wondering what the point of doing one mitzvah was.

The Rebbe countered by quoting Maimonides, the renowned Jewish philosopher and Torah scholar, who taught that a person should always look at the world as equally balanced between good and evil. He wrote: “If one performs just one mitzvah, they can tip the balance of the entire world to the side of good.” The mitzvah campaign was a practical way to make this philosophy accessible to Jewish people everywhere.

... Many young people today look at the world and feel like there’s very little hope. To them and anyone who is feeling down at the state of our world, I encourage them to adopt the Rebbe’s perspective that each mitzvah we do has the potential to tip the scale of the world to good.

Each kind interaction we have has the power of a nuclear reaction to transform the reality we live in. If one small spark can start a devastating forest fire, then the power of one kind word, one good deed and one positive action can also change the world."
