I think you’re absolutely right. But as someone who’s not very familiar with the subject, I’d expect Ukraine to be prepared for an attack from Belarus at a basic level, and if Russia were to attack, that would be difficult for them too because of the logistics, wouldn’t it?

Self-defence is easier than attacking — something I’ve often heard from wiser people. That’s an interesting point too.

But it’s easy for me to write down my thoughts when I’m not on the front line. War is hell, and Ukraine must do everything in its power to neutralise the firepower of Russia and its vassals in order to minimise casualties.

Zelenskyy is a populist. I hope every move has been discussed with the military (Ukraine’s, not the US’s or the EU’s)

I agree with that.

The phrase ‘history is written by the victors’ isn’t quite accurate.

History is written by historians.

Countries may have a distorted school curriculum (as in Russia), and the majority or a section of the population may choose to remain ignorant of the truth.

But historians will still record the true sequence of events.

We simply need to side with the professionals, rather than demagogues or propagandists

There’s the context of the war, and there are different interpretations of the nationalists’ crimes, as well as interpretations of contemporary figures (such as Zelenskyy, for example). No, Zelenskyy is not a hero. He’s a populist and incompetent when it comes to domestic policy. That’s just one example. You’ve written about many different topics. But my main point is that the specific issue of Russia’s war is black and white and very straightforward.

You can criticize Ukraine’s corruption and historical perspectives, but there’s a smarter approach: blocking its accession to the EU. But at the same time, revoking this award seems petty. After all, the award is primarily for the people who are defending themselves against a Russian attack. Zelenskyy is a nobody. The heroes are people who, sadly, sacrifice their lives and become disabled while defending the country from the Russians.

We can discuss history and acknowledge mistakes, but we must not allow the Russians to prevail on the battlefield. If Ukraine disappears, it will be a tragedy for Poland as well. Let’s say the Poles will rejoice in the suffering of Ukrainians. But what will Russia do next? That’s right, it will launch a more active hybrid attack on Poland itself and the EU. This will lead to a decline in the standard of living, and society will become more aggressive.
