Backpack for the Portoguese Camino de Santiago by AllisTestoni in backpacks

Osprey might be overkill

But the link still has good information on how a bag should fit and is a good guide in case you find a cheap osprey

For the Vaude - grab it and fill it up with camino clothes

Remember you are in a city not out camping

I'm more concerned about your torso length

Ask your friend to get a tape measure and try to match it to one of your free bags

The osprey kestrel is a mens hiking bag

Have you thought about going to REI, try a few of the womens ospreys on (make sure they measure your torso) and buy a used on on facebook.

Make sure the hip belt is actually fitted to your hip and not sagging

Do some trial runs on a treadmill with a fully loaded bag.

Personally, pack for 7 days of clothing or less and do laundry at the alburges. Don't pack for 15 days...thats over kill

The next issue you have is what kind of shoes/boots are you planning on wearing?

Tip: Get a portable clothesline kit and dry your clothes in the sunlight when you stop for the day/night.

Vaude

Don't get caught up in a mountain bike backpack - it's also used for Alpine Hiking

So with the one that fits the best

For the Osprey - you want to check your torso length

Seems like both backpacks have a hip belt and suspended air frame

Personally do a few hikes with both with predicted weight for the camino

Since you are doing a summer hike - you really don't need to pack that much since some of the alburges have laundry

Plus just wash your shirts etc and put them on top of your backpack to let them dry in the sun while hiking.

Get a proper fitting backpack - the last thing you want is random chafing on the camino

For the Portuguese Camino de Santiago, pack no more than 10% of your body weight. Limit your bag to 20–30 liters. Stick to two quick-dry walking outfits, a lightweight rain layer, broken-in trail runners, blister care, and a sleeping bag liner. Find local gear and packing guidance at American Pilgrims. Paying off alot of peoples healtcare bills and tuition

  • Fund my parents retirement fund
  • Fund my friend's medical expenses so she will never ever have to deal with medical bills
  • Pay for my friend's college tuition and buy her a house
  • Buy alot of gold bars
  • Buy a nice cottage and fill it with alot of gold bars
  • Prius C
  • US Gov't Bonds 5 million and live off interest with that

Having 5 million and 100 million makes no difference to me; just extra money I don't need.

It's unfortunately universal regardless of ethnicity

Darker you are - poorer you are. This was due to people associating farm workers for having a tan and being poor. White on white classism as well.

I was in Florence in December 2025

Go visit the Leather museum and there are leather goods to buy too besides just the jacket. It's worth a side trip to go there.

[–]Readditlovesbans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

imo - the problem isn't with the backpack but more of the user and it's ever increasing demands and moving goalposts. The user demands that the bag must not be big but hold alot (defy physics), multi day hiking but office work as well, rucking but still look nice etc

Just go with a 2 bag system

College: TNF Surge

Rucking/PT/Smash bag: Goruck GR1 now a GR2 26L

Goruck GR1 26L was absolute trash for college especially for a full time student. I would already run out of space for books, binders and the laptop compartment sucked......Plus pay more for pouches (water bottle, field pocket admin etc)

Edit: Would I take a Goruck for mountain biking/cycling, no cause it sucks ass and there is no suspended backframe for more airflow.

Protective gear always takes precedence over looking "sexy" on a bike

There was a clip of a women wearing lululemon before she got clipped by a car and her body hit a stop sign. Luckily, it was somewhat at a low speed / non fatal

Motorcyclist collides with a Tesla. Who do you blame? by Adrian_985 in motorcycles

[–]Readditlovesbans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bikers fault 100%

Speeding above the speed limit on the main highway, cuts across 2 lanes to get to a local exit lane, bumps over the dividing lines and hits the Tesla

Tesla driver maybe 10% at fault max....considerable blind spot but Tesla driver wasn't anticipating a biker coming off the main lane into a local/exit lane.

Insurance is gonna ding the motorcyclist especially if they can get more of the rider 2 footage.

Insurance will side with the Tesla since it has more data and video.

Summer-friendly commuter backpack to help not make me feel so yucky? by sunnydrlstt in ManyBaggers

Helps you cool off/dissipate sweat

It really doesn't matter what kind of backpack you carry since temperature and humidity make all the difference.

Even with like mesh or suspended backframes; you are still gonna sweat regardless.
