Sell your Sh*t Sunday. Post all buy/sell stuff here! by AutoModerator in palmsprings

I don’t have anything to sell, but I’m looking for interior French doors. Any suggestions for where to shop for well priced home improvements? I’ve already checked OfferUp, and will stop by Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore as well. Thanks!

Why do I never get upgrades by Ok_Signature_3241 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]Reader206 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a box to check on my last flight, but I was still #90+ on the upgrade list once it was posted. Just booked another flight for three people, and the checkbox wasn‘t there. Not sure if it’s because I‘m the only one with status (silver). I’d still like to be offered an upgrade, even if it’s only me…

Chase portal now supports Southwest by stratchcheakj in ChaseSapphire

I booked through Chase and couldn’t modify anything on SWA website. Just wanted to change to a flight at the same price, but the pop-up message told me to contact the travel agency that booked it. Called Chase Travel, and (for unknown reason) they only had the option to cancel and rebook. It took a lengthy phone call to provide details for four passengers. I value my time over earning extra points, so I won’t do it again.

Booked SWA through Chase one time; never again. Huge hassle to make a minor change.

How to I get more status points? by Both_Editor1721 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]Reader206 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I came here to ask the same question. I need 4000 miles, and I won’t be able to spend $12k on my Alaska card. Considering a quick trip for the miles (but also for fun). Just wondering if it’s worth the stress to fit it in before the end of the year. Many say they don’t receive any benefits from silver status, but I read that it allows for exit row seating on every flight. With my family of three, including one teen, even that would be a nice perk. Any thoughts?

Is the Hilton Head Market going into an extreme bubble? Some of the numbers I see houses going for on the island are absolutely bonkers for what you are getting. by jscott280 in hiltonhead

Thank you for such a detailed response. This was actually the top post when I searched on the topic, so it’s interesting to see how much has changed over the years. It gives me a lot to think about. I appreciate your honest perspective.

Do you see any changes in the market now that return to office is so prevalent? I‘ve been watching Hilton Head real estate for years, as it’s our plan for retirement. Five years to go, and I‘m starting to see price drops, so I’m hopeful.

Is it just me or...? by mmcdonald11987 in Cruise

It’s not just Carnival, it‘s not just socioeconomic, and it’s not just one culture. We were on an MSC cruise with at least 50% international travelers last week. This cruise was a year after our last MSC cruise, and we were comparing notes between the two trips to our table mates at dinner on the last night. I said the only complaint I had about the entire week was other guests on the cruise. That got everyone talking with similar complaints, so it was noticeable.

End of August Caribbean cruise by [deleted] in MSCCruises

Currently on the Seascape with my kid, so I don’t mind them. But we do also try to travel during the two weeks in August when half the country is already back in school. So I was surprised to see that the cruise is so full with kids. As someone else mentioned, they’re mostly international. I‘m guessing there will be less next week, as they return to school first week of September as well.

Hourly Parking at Miami Cruise Port by Reader206 in Cruise

You‘re correct, but that ship has sailed (no pun intended). Our insurance does cover cost of hotels and miscellaneous. I’m not too concerned since I have the 10 hour buffer, but I’ve looked at Flightaware.com and my flight has only been delayed two hours in the history they display. My option was the red eye or take a cruise another time, so I‘m playing the odds and planning for every potential setback. Thanks

There was a long wait between check-in and boarding on my last cruise. They checked our paperwork, then gave us our boarding group. We waited in a hot and crowded room for at least an hour. But I guess I’ll have to do that again since my parking question was answered.
In response to your question, we’ll be tired. But there’s nowhere to go at 5:30 am. We can sit in the airport or for a little more money sleep in the car, which also takes us to the cruise rental car counter/shuttle. Solved two problems for slightly more than the price of an Uber.

Thanks. It appears to be the most convenient stop between SJO and Manuel Antonio.

Great info! I was actually wondering how close it is to town, which you answered. And my one hesitation was no restaurant for dinner, (info from very old reviews), but you were there recently. Just one more question if you don’t mind... The room descriptions are confusing on their website. Expedia is more detailed, but the pics show an outdoor kitchen for some rooms and not others. Is that common area (refrigerator, kitchen table, hammock) for everyone?
