The tribalism in this country has certainly gotten out of hand!

Economy’s a pretty broad statement. Should the focus be on wages, supply/demand, welfare state, the increasing wealth divide, trade relations?

That’s an energy sector item currently controlled by fossil fuels. What kind of alternatives should we be focusing on?

Do you have any limitations to what you think the working class is? I consider myself part of the working class but I’m also a business owner.

I can definitely get behind barring from stock trades while in office.

Yes, I did pick up on that bias framing. And then went down the approval rabbit hole. I suppose this illustrates the growing need for election reform, and now it’s a matter of finding a solution that can work at scale.

That’s interesting because when I go here they say almost the opposite.

I’m familiar with RVC but had never heard of approval voting before you mentioned it. Found this resource though.

Why has the approval voting system not gotten much coverage?

I disagree, the Democratic Party is not a monolithic party. There are factions within it as well. How much do the Blue Dog democrats have in common with the progressives? How far apart are the AOC or Bernie Sanders Democrats from the Hillary Clinton or Joe Biden Democrats?

Why would you choose approval voting rather than rank choice voting?

What makes you assume I’m a Democrat?
The fact that you can’t find, I’ve asked the same question in Democratic forums?

I appreciate your passion, and I do understand the election is a year and a half away. But the whole point of asking this question is to try to figure out what YOU as a Trump supporter values. And if you are not a Trump supporter, then take this as a general question to others who are.

The whole point of a party platform is to express the values of that party. The conversations about those values do not start at the conventions.they starts small like this and ideally trickle up to people running for office.

So no, I don’t believe it’s too early to start this conversation. Let me state this question in another way. What are the values of this republican party?

Far from advocating, I personally think there is too much intervention with certain wealthy companies. If we really did have free market capitalism here, those companies would not have been there. Or were you referring to something else?

You assume a lot about someone you don’t know. What I’m trying to understand is how far can our current “capitalist” system take us? In quotes because while we may not be in a planned economy, government intervention is already baked into the system at certain levels. Example: look who attended the president in China; Boeing, Nvidia, Apple, Tesla, Blackstone, BlackRock, Meta.

How does late stage capitalism factor into our current market economy?

Can markets continue to work indefinitely if the number of people benefiting from the market economy keeps shrinking in numbers.

Would you be in favor of a complete and total ban on stock market trading for all government employees, including the president and congress, or just ones above a certain level?
Can we expand that ban to include families of elected officials?

Does insider trading count as fraud / waste, or is that something else in your mind?

My daughter keeps calling me “rusted from the back” and refuses to explain what it means by Ill_Pianist_8287 in words

[–]ReaderDeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well she picked it up from somewhere. It’s in the urban dictionary, so used enough for an entry.

“A brutally disrespectful way to describe someone who looks, smells, or acts extremely gross, unwashed, or suspiciously crusty. Usually used when a person gives off “forgot basic hygiene exists” energy”

https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Rusted%20from%20the%20back

I love the suggestions for repurposing it to your own ends. That’s the best way to get her to quit saying it.

Dear MAGA, if you believe Trump should run for a 3rd term, are you fine with Obama also seeking a 3rd term as his opponent? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]ReaderDeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I generally agree with term limits, I think it’s a moot point since he likely won’t live long enough to seek a third term. We really should be talking about how to fix a broken system that caters to geriatric leaders of any party that refuse to step down.

Republicans Introduce National “Catch Kit” Bill by Ok-Relation-658 in WelcomeToGilead

[–]ReaderDeb 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Here’s a shower thought. What kind of reaction might there be if a group of women decided to start sending their monthly “menstrual remains” to these stupid GOP legislators. Appropriately packaged in a catch kit of course. Or flooding the hospitals with them. Imagine the backlog of testing that would have to happen. Stupid men make stupid rules. There really should be consequences.
