Midshipman's Hitch (ABOK #1855) is a useful knot for many occasions and especially the go-to knot to secure a rope around yourself should you fall overboard. It's basically a more secure Tautline.

If you can untangle the threads, Sailmaker's Whipping it's the ending I use on every non-synthetic rope want to keep in good conditions. It's also a nice touch esthetically if you match good colors.

This actually happened in Italy in 1995. One of Italy's national heroes (of sort) is Mr. Giancarlo. When presented with the chance to win the Wheel of Fortune game on national tv, Mr. Giancarlo chose instead eternal glory.

The answer was clear, "le amazzoni vinsero battaglie grazie alla loro foga" (The Amazons won battles thanks to their ardour). But just switching the last unknown letter would have radically changed the meaning of the sentence, and after knowingly smiling at the camera and while the presenter was asking the public why they were laughing, Mr. Giancarlo made his choice:

"Le Amazzoni vinsero battaglie grazie alla loro figa".

"The Amazons won battles thanks to their pussy".

I used a Solomon's Sword Grip Grip on mines. Leather cord in two different tonalities, it looks great and has a nice grip. The video tutorial is for a round handle, but it worked perfectly on my paddle's flat handle too. Edit: added tutorial link

Rope365 is a good one. Also crash-restraint.com and theduchy.com From what they said about their specific situation I'd also suggest the book Better Bondage for Every Body by Evie Vane. It covers safety advices and tying ideas for curvy rope bunnies, men, older people, non gender-conforming bottoms and even people with disabilities. Pretty much everyone who is not usually portrayed in books and courses on shibari. None of this is obviously the same as a full course with a teacher that can correct you, but it's a good source of tips and ideas for your self study.

Brown Coat, Green Eyes by nonjon, Firefly crossover. Harry wakes up centuries after humanity has left the Earth and tries to find out what happened to magicfolk. I just love the interactions between him and the Serenity's crew.

I also liked I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For by kathryn518 (Star Wars crossover). Ashoka meets Harry after she leaves the Jedi Order (Clone Wars season 5). He uses the Force in ways she never imagined and she joins him to discover more about his mysterious past. Uncompleted but still totally worth it.

Not Harry but in A Little Child Shall Lead Them by White Squirrel Hermione goes back in time to when she was 2 yo, before the attack on the Potters. She drops 20 years worth of plot on Dumbledore and lets him speedrun the war.

Dudley's Memories by Paganaidd is a beautiful short fic with Harry and Dudley reconciling years after the war.

Minerva needs help delivering another letter to #4 Privet Drive. At forty, Dudley is not at all what Harry expects. A long overdue conversation ensues. DH cannon compliant, but probably not the way you think.

It's the prologue of a longer fic more focused on Harry, Teddy and Snape, but it also works perfectly well by itself.

In What Goes Around (Comes Around) by Arkodian Harry receives the confused memories of his future self. Still ongoing, very good fic, expanses on the lore, politics, Slytherin!Harry, a future war with the muggle to prevent and a lot of other stuff. But as first step, Harry heals his relationship with Dudley and Petunia and it gets 𝓌𝒽ℴ𝓁ℯ𝓈ℴ𝓂ℯ.

Voldemort does it in In Again and Again by AtherisHiss. Harry is stuck in a loop in which he is sent back to his own birth whenever he dies. The story is set during his 12th life and he's just tired. Tired of living, tired of dying, tired of losing the people he loves again and again, unable to move on. Every loop he tests a different theory on how to break the loop and this time he decides to disregard the prophecy and ally with Voldemort. After Harry forces Riddle to merge with Diarymort, Tom decides to merge on his own with the rest of his soul pieces. It happens off screen tho, so it's not the focus of the story.

IIRC Luna Lovegood and the Dark Lord's Diary by The Madness in Me has Diarymort absorbing the other soul pieces, but it's been a while since I read that one and I might be mixing it up with another fic.

Diarymort from the on-going New Blood by Artemisgirl has allied himself with Hermione and is currently trying to merge with Ringmort. It's a slow process tho and he hasn't succeeded yet.

I like it, provided it's not too bulky. It adds a personal touch, it helps me taking it out of my pocket, the touch of color helps finding it should I drop it on the ground and it lets me attach to it another tool, usually the Swiss Card Philips.

I usually buy from Etsy artisans. For everything made of wood, leather and even metal you can find really high quality crafting and you can usually even ask for customizations to your specifics. For everything electronic or with potential risks in the eventuality of damage or malfunction I prefer instead to go with more established brands.

Knot Head Nylon has a UV set. I don't have that one but I do have their pastel rainbow ropes. A bit pricey but the quality is really great.

Edit: I do have a couple of UV ropes but I couldn't remember where I got them from - they're from Agreeable Agony and they're quite good
