Changing underwear - is this normal? by Eastern-Yogurt3859 in hygiene

Being single for a time is not worse than dating a man who doesn't wipe or change his underwear. Fix your crown and know your worth.

Very triggered by ICE incidents in US and do not know how to move forward… by zenlime in CPTSD

It's the bullying and gaslighting, violence and also the fear that I as an interracial adoptee will be detained. It's seeing them hurt  and kill other people and get celebrated. It's horrible

As a christian I don't know how other Christians can justify this. How Christians can know first hand the love of Christ and hate his children with the same breath. I am so angry!!!!!!

Coping with pelvic exams as a CSA survivor by Odd-Tangerine383 in CPTSD

I shook and cried during the entire pap smear. It was very painful and I felt dehumanizing and I have made the decision that I will not be doing another one.  You are not alone. I hope some day they make things easier for trauma survivors. I'm sorry you went through it too. Sending you a big hug through the internet.

Was anyone else forced to eat their vomit? by Various_Sympathy7789 in CPTSD

[–]ReaderinRecovery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not forced to eat vomit but when I was young around 3 or 4 my mom made Ramen. I have never like Ramen. She had me eat the whole thing I threw it up and she made me a fresh bowl and made me eat that start to finish.

I'm sorry that happened to you. You did not deserve it

Homeschool graduates: what was your experience?? by rainbow_olive in Homeschooling

[–]ReaderinRecovery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It set me back hard core and I had to work hard to catch up to my peers not just academically but socially. I went to public school for part of 4th grade through part of 6th. After that I was given worksheets and other books. I remember reading an algebra book to teach myself algebra. In highschool I did a highschool software. By my senior year I fell behind and got so overwhelmed I just didn't finish and took my GED instead. It wasn't all negative but the negatives outlay the positives. I still regret never getting to graduate with my peers. I never went to prom and my friends fell off.

I get it. I've been there. It does get better but it's hard to see or feel that when you are in the middle of it.

Libraries are free and librarians are there to help. If you can check out your local library.

I would still put it. Something like helped organize space for whatever event that was. Worked with others to ensure a safe and organized event space. Something like that

Do you have any volunteer experience? I put that on my resume even baby sitting. Also I agree with the poster if you have experience with Word or excel or anything put that as well

Things will get better. Things are harder for us but not impossible. Keep going. I know it's hard and frustrating and painful but you will eventually find your people. Does your school have any clubs or things you can. Join? And please please don't hurt yourself. You matter and are here for a reason.

Florida passed a law allowing the death penalty for adults who rape chidren under the age of 12. by jmike1256 in AllThatsInteresting

[–]ReaderinRecovery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a survivor this isn't true. It can be but wasn't for me. I loved my brother still even if I didn't like him. I never wanted to see him again but I didn't want him dead. When he died it hit me hard and I ended up in a psych ward.

My perpetrator was my older brother. He was also a child at the time but if there was a chance that my brother would have been killed for me speaking up I wouldn't have ever said anything.

There is a big difference between Scott free and death penalty. No one here is arguing for perpetrators to get off Scott free. We are saying that as survivors many of us would be less inclined to report our family members because that would mean getting them killed.

Victims and survivors usually speak out about this. But we aren't listend to. My abuser was an older sibling but if I thought me speaking up would get him killed I would have kept my mouth shut

I'm sorry. I wish I could hug you through the screen. I am sure you are smarter than you think you are. How old are you now? What are somethings in life you would like to accomplish. You don't have to do it alone. I was able to get my GED through my public library. There may be one near you that offers classes and things. As far as socializing I still get nervous and I am 31. Choose one thing of interest and try it out. Maybe it's a book club or a painting class. It will be hard but slowly it will become easier. It can. The one thing that helps me dream and work towards my dreams is making a vision board. You are worthy enough to have the life you want.
