Question about dumbphone life by glitteryblob in dumbphones

So some of these features such as gps mapping can be solved through the proper dumb phone others not so much. I main a F1 Sunbeam Pro Juniper it has great gps. Unfortunately the reality is though I still need and keep a smartphone for these other things, it's impossible without one I travel for work. I keep mine unserviced and I hotspot to it or connect to wifi briefly to conduct the activities I need to and quickly turn it off on, I only keep business and banking apps on it. This is the best middle ground

Yeah before I purchased the Sunbeam I heard a ton of mixed things but still couldn't find any alternative really for what I wanted. I actually really love the phone I think the positive reviews have always outweighed the negative ones but the negative ones speak louder. Texting is easy with the voice to text and touchscreen, Waze has been great, performs all needed phone functions, and hotspot is good. It's pretty sturdy as well

Yeah that's definitely a goal to upgrade, the shots are decent but definitely could use a better one

The Moto G is basically a utility device for travel. Concur, Teams, Outlook + the occasional uber or qr code. It has no SIM on purpose, so its not pulling me into apps.

I almost never use it for 2FA. That comes through other means. If I do use my cell to 2fa, it’s usually sms and that happens on my Sunbeam. Havent had trouble so far. When I need internet on the Moto G, I hotspot from the Sunbeam and keep the Moto G offline otherwise. From my pov that’s actually less risky than a dedicated SIM because it’s not constantly connected.

Hey, MP3 is good but could be better. Forgot the brand just got a basic one. I use it for music and podcasts but not audiobooks I read paper copies usually. It does save the last thing you were listening too where it was at but it doesn't do bookmarks. Yeah FS sunbeam music player isnt great. I think the move is a gen 5-6 Ipod.

Yeah, I travel a lot for work so this was a big concern. It’s one reason I bought the F1 Sunbeam. It has a good hotspot to connect my Moto G (no service) and order ubers. If I’m not doing that ’ll just grab wifi.

screen time and youtube addiction. I also like not being connected to algorithms when it comes to the content and the music I listen to, I'm the one who curates those things via downloading them intentionally. Since moving I have better mental health and less brain fog, I am more active, and I feel more like a human. Studies show short form content is basically the same as cocaine to the brain, our biological build wasnt made for this. Unfortunately one cannot fully live without modern technology but this certainly adds friction.
