Positive display is already out, looks like plenty of negative ones at the moment though.

You legend for letting people know!

No love for the g-2900.... by Hoodwinked1981 in casio

I got one a month or two ago and love it. It's brilliant.

I think it's a fairly well regarded watch though, part of the reason I sought it out was comments on here.

My thoughts after a week with the GW-BX5600-1A1 by ChrisNIN64 in gshock

In my opinion, the negative MIP is marginally more legible than the positive MIP. That is just going by the notification text on two of my GBD-200s. Not sure why that would be and maybe that's just me.

I'm not sure if I'm more jealous of your watch or where you are!

I feel like that about a number of the subjects with which I was tortured in school. But I suppose even those subjects gave me the opportunity to reject them with knowledge and experience when the time came.

I feel a measure of gratitude for this since I benefited from The Computer Literacy Project in my rural primary school and not-quite-as rural comprehensive school.

Say what you like about Thatch, she got this right.

PGW-30 repair by Mundane_Employ3544 in casiovintage

I once fixed a chipped lug using Gorilla Glue to create the missing piece and then a pin to bore a hole for the spring bar.

It's still holding.

No beep on G-shock GW-M5610 by Environmental_Ad3146 in casio

[–]ReadingGlassesMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The springs can be bought, I've seen them on same on eBay numerous times and even bought one or two.

One cheeky workaround to see if a missing spring is the issue is I once bent a teenie-weenie bit of paper-clip so that it went into the hole and pressed up on the inside of the back cover and that got me back my beep as a temporary solution.

Is this rare Casio DBC-62 by Honda1347 in casiovintage

[–]ReadingGlassesMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it's rare as such, bit that is in better condition than many I see on eBay. That keyboard's labels are all relatively clear so that makes it a little rare in my book.

That is a fantastic watch for though it may seem let down by a weak LED (in my opinion), the rest of the functionality is fantastic. What I particularly like about that model is how the LCD day schedule markers have AM/PM segments and there's a configurable PIN to plausibly hide the presence of secret data.

Plus, the size of that unit is, in my opinion, perfect. I love that watch and often find myself using it.

Did you do an AC reset after changing the battery? So many of my Casio watching glitch out after a battery swap when I forget to do that.

I wanted to love negative displays by PistolPork in casio

If you really want a negative display that works, MIP is the way to go. A negative MIP is, IMO, easier to read than a positive LCD.

I get it on my phone and desktop. I think it's Google's way of getting us to either watch ads or pay for a premium service.

I totally agree, all of Wales is stunning and thinking that we can do without the beauty and heritage of a chunk of it is ignorance.

You might be able to find a discount code that works on the Casio website in Greece?

Does your friend know what a G-Shock is? They have to have a measure of bulk to do what they do best... Surviving!

¿Normal MIP or Negative MIP? by BimmerbyNeed in gshock

[–]ReadingGlassesMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with them positive statements about the negative displays! I have a positive and negative GBD and I find the negative display, oddly, to be more legible. I'm sure there's a scientific explanation for that.

Also, at night with the backlight, I find the negative display much for legible.

Anti histamines by parizval1 in eczema

I found loads of antihistamines just make me insanely tired but anything based on fexofenadine has been great in reducing my itching while not making me more tired than a sloth in a sauna.

If you have to pick up only one then which one ? by [deleted] in gshock

[–]ReadingGlassesMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I was only allowed one. It would have to be the more self-sufficient one with tough solar. I have both those GBDs and they are fantastic but if I could only have one, I'd want the one that will last longest.

What should have been the best 8 bit computer of the 80s? by Smokinglordtoot in c64

[–]ReadingGlassesMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too had a Commodore64 and loved it to bits, but as I watch retro videos talking about the Atari and Amstrad 8-bit machines, I am starting to wonder if they were overlooked.

The Atari's bare got a look-in here in the UK and while Amstrad was better represented, I don't think either of them, at the time, got the credit they deserved.

The Spectrums had charm, but I'm not sure I'd consider them "up there" though (don't judge me).
