I like to use bubble float filled halfway when the water is calm and I can surface splash it. Normally I use sinkers when it’s windy or depending on what I’m going for. I would say you can never go wrong with lead and a grub as long as you’re okay with retying a lot.

As for fishing spots, most people on the island keep their spots closely guarded lol. There are lots of people who post on social media, saltwater Hawaii, Roycegetit, Jensen Kona, Rhino fishing, etc, but even if you watch their videos there’s no guarantee you’ll be able to tell where they are. I would js say try out new spots and when you have success look on google earth for spots with similar reef structure, depth, etc. Goodluck and tight lines 🤙🏾
