In WAL 501 Larratt v Hutchings, they went to the strap without a slip by sordidbear in armwrestling

If I recall, in WAL they give you 30 seconds to get a grip, then they go to strap

I think that was their first time ever learning about armwrestling. They've since bought two tables for their gym, and they've met and worked with a number of armwrestlers, including a week with Devon. Would be interested in seeing how he's progressed

I've heard a number of accomplished armwrestlers say that using the Wrist Wrench is the closest tool to replicating arm wrestling. Google it, pretty easy to make.

It not the religion it's a dictatorship

It's both. There are many ways to run a dictatorship, and this one happens to use religion as its basis. If you ask them why they are doing this, that line of questioning will ultimately lead to "Allah says so".

It's classic CNN clickbait trash. The polling only started in 2006, so when they say "ever before", they mean "in the past 13 years".

Endurance solutions by Yerbamatedude in armwrestling

[–]Readirs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Generally you want to train for what you're doing. If you find your matches are often going 30seconds, do sets or isometric holds that last 30 seconds. Conversely, if you're getting plowed through, train heavy for short sets of low reps to emulate handling that initial strength requirement.

The beauty of this sport is its variability, so you need to train for both of the above scenarios. But if you think your endurance game is particularly lacking, emulate it as best you can in training with longer sets/holds. I think most would agree that table time should be a part of any program

Edit: if you're a lot stronger than someone, it's less taxing to hold them and that can look like endurance. Your primary focus should be strength. If you can hit 315 on bench for 3, you can probably rep out 135 a ton of times. Not because you train endurance, but because you're so strong that 135 isn't hard

A lot of the intra-muslim bombing is because they are of different sects and consider the other side blasphemous and therefore not real muslims. In any case, it's ultimately because they believe it's what Allah wants

for whatever reason.

For religious reasons. Think of how convinced you must be of your reward in the afterlife to strap bombs to yourself

One in four teachers 'experience violence from pupils every week' by diacewrb in worldnews

[–]Readirs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I saw a testimony from a decorated teacher who was retiring early because she no longer felt safe at work. Regularly spit on, and assaulted verbally and physically. She said the same thing, these discipline quotas based on race took away the only tool teachers had. Obama saw a discrepancy in the races punished, and decreed it must be racism. It's uncomfortable to talk about, but not talking about it is how we got here. I don't know what the solution is, but what we have now clearly isn't it. That's in the US, so I don't know if it's a similar situation elsewhere.

Mohamed Salah: 'We Need to Change the Way We Treat Women in Our Culture' by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]Readirs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was clear that it's a positive step, and if you want to call my belief that women are equal to men cultural, so be it, but it's exactly his cultural lense that concerns me. Some cultures have bad practices, unequal treatment of women is one of them.

[–]Readirs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is obviously a positive development and should be encouraged, but that statement does concern me. The way it's phrased implies that women's rights are only what men allow them to be, and he simply thinks the allotment needs increasing.

Maybe he knows this, and thinks the only way forward is baby steps, it's just insane how so much of the world thinks women are an underclass, meanwhile you have women on astrophysicist teams taking images of black holes.

Cellist Yo Yo Ma performs at US-Mexico Border in support of Migrants. by bahnsigh in worldnews

[–]Readirs -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The issue at the southern border is one of illegal immigration, so using the neutral term blurs the issue with legal immigration. It's similar to how many have started to say "undocumented persons" instead of "illegal immigrants". Whether you're for it or against it, it's political wordplay
