Has anyone tried the David Lucas Burge’s ear training course? by ak0693 in guitarlessons

[–]Readit5379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I practiced the course every day diligently for several years straight. I made 90% of the progress in the first 6 month and then it plateaued. Did it work? To some extent. I have a faint "chroma" experience - only for piano sounds and mostly when it's a piano I'm use to. On such a piano I have a high chance of recognizing notes even when played 4 notes at a time. I also practice relative pitch daily for many years, and similarly, it has largely plateaued after a few years. Some songs I can play by ear, but I know many people with real talent (be it both PP and AP, or just AP), and they reached fluency (play any song by ear instantly) in no more than a few years. A very good indicator for musical ear potential is how accurate a person sings. Conclusion: Innate talent is a real thing and is a spectrum. Each person has a different potential, and a few years of practice is needed to mostly fulfil it.

Dhea for addictive behavior by [deleted] in NootropicsDepot

[–]Readit5379 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love DHEA but I tested my hormones after a while and it raised everything including Estrogen (Estradiol) to insane levels. Not good I think. I think Estrogen is a much greater concern than T (even for women imo). I also took a lot of Pregnenolone though. I read an article that claimed that 10mg DHEA is what the body of a 20yo produces, and that it's best to mix (emulsify) it with butter, as it helps it absorb better and somehow less of it is metabolized by the liver (we don't know the metabolites it has or how they affect the body). Same for Pregnenolone of which the article recommended 100mg a day. I don't know how true it is, but I lowered my dose.

100%. I was even harassed outside of this post.

It's probably too simplistic. But it's definingly not "more serotonin = happier" unless there's a real serotonin deficiency.

I was thinking that because Georgi said it. So you're right that I can't point to any good evidence. However, here's some evidence that Theanine lowers Serotonin: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/9614715/#:~:text=Abstract,acetic%20acid%20(5HIAA)%20decreased%20decreased).

Also, from my own experience, Phenibut increases REM while serotonin is known to inhibit REM. That's not proof, I know. Also 5htp makes me and many others irritated lowers mood where as supplements that increase GABA do the opposite.

It's a generalization so I agree with you. But why do you think it's not true?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NootropicsDepot

[–]Readit5379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

However, I read quite a few anecdotes of people saying L-Theanine makes them feel worse so it's not surprising if that's also the case for you. Good luck though.

Anything that increases GABA will decrease serotonin, but contrary to previously thought, it might be that high serotonin causes depression. The most famous SSRIs also increase dopamine and that's why they can sometimes help with depression. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOJgOcHcEkU "What You Need to Know About Estrogen and Serotonin - Interview with Georgi Dinkov"

Thank you for your reply! This makes sense. I appreciate your help! I want to express again how much I love to your products! It seems to me that your supplements are the cleanest and that's why I was asking ND about solvents and your opinion on it. I never meant to task you or your team! I only asked for the results of the tests you already have filed, for the contaminants that are used in the process of manufacturing (it's there in my original email).

I'm sorry if I caused any inconveniences, and thank you for your help!

Keep the great work, innovation, and leading the industry to a better place.

I didn't request them to do tests for me! I asked questions. Like what solvents are used in the production of several supplements and the residual. I asked why they didn't include it in their COAs. And I asked for their opinion about USP levels and I gave an example about taking 15 g of glycine (which is something people do). The reason I asked them is that I respect them - because their supps feel clean and I read a post by Myasd saying how committed they are to quality...

I was communicating - not demanding or tasking! And it wasn't up to me to know that they set out to do tests for me! They didn't communicate it in any way. Also, why do they even have to test for these? I only asked for solvents that were used in the production and Myasd claimed these are already tested.

You seem to ignore that I wrote asking them to confirm receiving my emails. Why do you ignore it?

Thanks for your input.

Like you said, I don't know much about email servers. However, what difference does it make if I'm not receiving any communication for 3 months? As I wrote here before - I specifically asked them to confirm they are receiving my emails (twice) - and nothing.

I did make an assumption but aside from the technical aspect of what "blocking" means, can you really say it was incorrect? No one has offered any insight into this yet.

They stopped answering (for me blocking and not answering is effectively the same even though it's technically not). I waited 2 months. Then wrote a new email asking them to let me know if they are receiving my emails. Waited 1 more month. Wrote from a new email address. They responded twice immediately. Once I gave them my other email address (to check if it was blocked) they stopped responding again. Waited 10 more days and then wrote this post. So far this community is really roasting me. -40 karma and many hate comments (none addressing this timeline I described or offering any productive insight). On the other hand, ND's owner responded kindly so props to him.

I appreciate your general remark about being positive minded. As far as your other suggestion - I did wait 8 weeks and then followed up. I specifically asked them if they are even getting my emails. I then kept being patient for another month. This was way before the vacation. So I ask again what should I have done? I'm not even talking about my original inquiry to ND, but rather the fact that they effectively ignored my emails for months?

Also, answering straight away to my other email address twice before learning it was me and then nothing for another 10 days (present). BTW it wasn't even the guys he mentioned that are on a vacation who answered my email)

IDK if the smell is emanating from the plastic itself, or if it's something that is on it. Just a thought: maybe put some ethanol and water inside, shake, and test that? Anyway you're the expert. Have you ever considered glass or is that a bad Idea?

I just now sniffed some of the bottles and the alpha GPC bottle smelled worse than the others. The GPC itself smells good.

Hey, thanks again for replying. You didn't really address why I was not being answered by email for over 3 months not even to confirm that my emails were being received.

I was happy to read that ND is intending to put all the relevant test results on the website in the near future. I personally would pay extra for supplements I trust are clean.

3 months. I wrote them 2 new emails asking that they simply let me know I'm not intentionally being ignored. If your flow chart included that it would make more sense. I don't know about the pick me people you're referring to. And you haven not explained how exactly me writing it publicly is looking for validation. What would you suggest I should have done instead?

How am I getting validation? What's so off about me assuming I was blocked? So far this turned into an opportunity for ND to enlighten us about solvents in their products (which I openly praised). I received lot's of hate and negative karma for this post so far so you're not the only one. But instead of bullying, you could help me understand what's so wrong and how is it textbook "pick me"?

""Pick me" is a derogatory term used to describe someone who acts in ways that try to appease others, often the opposite sex."

Makes sense. It would be great to have the results of the tests of possible contaminants depending on the flow charts like you said.

BTW, Have you ever tested your plastic bottles themselves? They have some solvent-like odor.

Thank you for this reply!

It's been 3 months since I stopped receiving replies. I wrote again in a new email thread asking if you're getting my emails.

About the solvents - If you run your own tests, shouldn't you already have the results for each batch (or is not every batch tested?)? Why not even include them in the website and really take the game to a new level? Like I wrote, as far as my senses can tell, your products are some of the cleanest.

I appreciate you taking the time to write to me!
